im sure the gearing with hold up but my only question is will all the added torque cause MAJOR torque steer, regardless of what gearing you use? and if you get traction how much lead will you have to add to the front to keep it on the ground? just some "food for thought"
    I race, therefore I am

ummm your not going to want something more then .18. Reason being, with so much power you tend to lose control very easily. Big blocks in such small cars is like putting a indy motor in a motorcycle. Its pointless. I have a fr18 and it provides more then enough power.

or like putting a viper engine in a motorcycle

Im gonna keep the 2.5 for a while and maby by the end of the summer after racing ill drop in an fr .18 or a wasp .18, but i think the gears will hold up for sure.

That is what I was thinking to! I think to big of a motor would be very hard to control. I think when I get mine I will be staying with stock motor nothing bigger.

yah my rustler can handle my fr.18 sorttaa... Im very disappointed with the stability of the rustler at high speeds. The jato gives me a bright look for the future.

I've heard the cr-rx is a pain to put in the traxxas cars, especially the rustler.

I put .18 cv-r (non-pullstart) in my friends rusty with no problem and the engine is quit surprising for 90 dollars. We were able to go to a 22 tooth clutch bell. It flies

its true that the OS CV-x engines take more modding to drop in than a standard engine but there worth the power. Actualy its just makig some space for the back plate
    just got a revo
    so long spacemaxx

I just noticed this post. You shouldn't really get any torque steer with a transverse mounted engine. It could cause it to pull excess wheelies, or just get good rear traction.

Torque steer/body roll in drag cars is resolved using stiffer springs on the side thats going to get compressed, and more ballast on the side thats going to get lifted. Of course that would cause undesirable handling on a car used for more then drag racing...
