    Starter Questions

I don't know much about Nitro but I'm trying to sort things out before buying a Jato.

It seems like there are three starter options:

Stock quick start. I've heard it is convenient but heavy and saps power. How does it work? In the Jato pictures there is smoething next to the engine that looks like an electric motor. Is this part of the quick start mechanism?

Pull start. According to Misbehavin this is lighter. I checked out his pages on installing one. Some issue with the glow plug that I don't understand?

Starter box. Best option for racing. Big, bulky, expensive. Any thoughts?

If there's no pull start or quick start does someone make a cover for where that stuff went.

Would appreciate any guidance on the typical start-up process. Thanks.
Has anything intelligent ever followed the word "dude"?

The so called EZ-START is a electric motor, geared way down, connected to the starter shaft. For racing, it's not the ideal starter, it's a lot of un-needed weight on the truck.

A pull start is a EZ-START, but you pulling takes the place of the motor. A pull start is 3.8 oz lighter than the EZ-Start.

A starter box is what the "real" racers use. It takes off all of the starting mechanisms(sp), both reducing weight and friction. They do sell "sealed" back plates for starter boxers. They are expensive, and are bulky, but that's what racers use.

For any thing that's not the EZ-Start, you will need a "glow plug ignitor" or "glow plug driver". It basicaly a battery, comes in many sizes, that connects to the top of the glow plug while your starting it. One it is started, it disels the rest of the time. If you didn't have a ignitor, you could use a battery and two aligator clips, positve to the plug, negitive to the cooling head.

I hope this answered all your questions.
