Anybody else checked this out yet? I'm going to have to check some of these things out. Looks pretty helpful.

Cool link. Saw some adjustments I didn't know about.
I got my car used without any manual or anything. I'm still trying to figure it out.
For the dirt: T-Maxx, Fantom .18, all RPM. RC10T3. RC10GT. For the street: Power Racing XR-80, 1/8th scale, W/stock .27. Mugen MTX-3 W/O.S. 18TZ. Yokomo Gt-4 W/Novarossi CT12. For the water: Traxxas Blast deep vee boat. Radio: Airtronics M8 with the Spektrum system.
Yeah, I could see how that would be hard. Good thing you can download all the stuff on the traxxas website.Originally posted by TT120

HOOAH! goodjob, slayden!
Im no expert. i just play one on the TRX forums
Kind of too late, I PM'ed him like 3 years ago if he was going to make Nitro 4-Tec articles like he did with the T-Maxx. After 3 years he did it.
I know he's a busy guy but typing an article that long takes just an hour or two. The pictures and everything don't take more than 10 minutes.
Either way, it's a good article. I was hoping he had some tips/tricks to modify the car to give it lower cg, etc. etc. Like how he did in the T-Maxx and Revo articles.
yeah that woulda been nice considering i already knew most of the stuff he posted..Originally posted by OneBigMan647

on another note, they wouldnt have done that guide if there was a new traxxas tourer coming out soon![]()

Well written with lots of pics so newbies can get their car dialed easier. I would like to see some info on tire choice cause that can make the most impact. Newbies should start there. Diff adjustments and explanations would be nice too. Most of the basics are in there though. My main problem with this car is how much work it takes to do most of the "fine-tuning" adjustments. It's great that he mentions the caster wedges and front downstop adjustments, but I have to be honest. At most club races, you won't have time between rounds to make those adjustments before your next qualifier begins unless you are really quick with the wrench and are already familiar with what kind of effect you will likely see. At my track, changing shock oil and springs is pushing it unless we have a really good turnout in all of the other race classes. I would recommend practicing this stuff on a day that you aren't racing so you can be comfortable with it in a more restricted time frame. You will be splitting hairs with those adjustments anyway so it's good to know what feel you wish to achieve before working so hard between rounds to discover that it doesn't feel much different. This is what he means when he mentions "fine-tuning". Just thought I would make that clear. I won't bash Slayden on it though, cause it's a really well written article and you most certainly don't see me doing it. The above are just some thoughts and ideas for any updates to that article in the future.

Thanks for the positive comments.
The order to do a N 4-Tec performance article has been shelved on many different occasions. I was glad that I could finally get it it done. A lot of what goes on the Traxxas website is out of my control. For the record, most of what I have written for this article was actually accomplished years ago. Making things happen just because I want them to happen doesn't always fly. I can safely assume that this would be the case at everyone elses' place of work too.
I do what I can when I'm allowed to.
I do a lot here at Traxxas, and Traxxas can always use more like me, so send in your resume One Big Man.![]()
Also note that the article currently posted is part one of three, so if it seems like there may be a few things missing, you'll more than likely see them on one of the other segments.
Enjoy![]()
Three part article sounds like a plan to me
I wouldn't know about work restrictions, they let me do whatever I want......NOT!!!
What's the pay and bennies like there, I might not mind relocating to Plano, especially if this Boeing sale here in Wichita takes a turn for the worse.![]()

Very nice slayden! Now I won't have to figure this all out myself when I go to the track.
Do you still race 4tec anymore? I saw an article in rcca about you racing one in a pro race in 2001 or something, but haven't seen anything about that recently. Are you doing mt racing mostly now?

Bill, I haven't raced on-road in a little while. I've been doing a whole lot of off-road here lately. I do love on-road though. I miss it.![]()
