    Fueling the JATO?

The jato comes with a fuel tank release similar to the REVO. However i could not see a cutout in the body to acess the tank with the body on.

My question, Is everyone is going to have to cut a hole in the front window so you can access the fuel tank? or do the current photos not depict where the cutout is?

My concern is that during cold weather operation (when you dont want a cutout windshield) I may have to pull the body off to fuel the truck... this could be bad if your in a long main.

Im sure there is a cutout somewhere, Traxxas thinks of everything before releasing a model.

Looks like you will access the handle from the cut out section over the engine. Looks like you can access the tank from either side window as I do not see a cut out in the hood area. I think each side window has an opening for filling.

From the looks of it you will be cutting out a side window.
Traxxas may decied to put in a nice hole for you to do it as they did with the revo, or they may decide to let you cut out the side you want to use.

Personaly I like the right side as thats the direction of my track.

Opening the fuel tank will be done back by the engine head as you can see in that picture.

I dont think cutting out one of the 2 side windows will cause much more air flow so it should not be a problem for you...

If you want a better way you may want to invest in a closeable flap over the window they have some nice plastic hinges you can glue to the side and with a touch of velcro it will stay closed.

I did this on my RC10GT it had a flap over the engine area giveing it less air when it was cold...

    Traxxas says:

"The integrated pull handle allows fast easy fuel stops that don’t require lifting or removing the body. A unique integrated spill guard directs fuel spillage to the ground, away from the chassis."

How its done I can't say, but if you have to cut the body to do it, they should describe it this way:

"The integrated pull handle allows fast easy fuel stops that don’t require lifting or removing the body, as long as you cut the window out."
Has anything intelligent ever followed the word "dude"?

i think you'll cutting out either the right or left side window. Remember someone hated the revos hole because some peoples were needed to turn the truck 180 degrees and fuel and then turn it 180 degrees again.

You will probly have to cut a hole out of a window just like every other stadium truck (including the Rustler), but this lets you choose which side you want the hole on. I like the pull handle that sticks out of the back hole, where the engine is becuase you don't have to reach into the body to open the tank, or have to thread the pull handle through a small hole in the body every time you put one on (like the Revo).

Look at this pic clicky clicky

If you look at the pic of the truck at the top, there is a small opening on the roof. Looks like you would be able to slide a fuel bottle in there. The only part is, it seems you would have to look forward from the back of the truck to see how full the tank is, unless you would cut a hole in a window. But if the side windows are left clear with no stickers on them, then you would be able to see how full the tank is. Just my opinion.

    The Jato looks killer!!!!

It is planned for Jato to come with a hole in the center of the windshield over the fuel filler. It's not in the photos because the exact shape and location had not been officially spec'ed at the time. Jato is super-easy to refuel. No fuss, no mess, no lost body clips.

Besides that, the art guys like the pictures without the holes in the windows. Traxxas models are usually photographed that way. We'll put a photo up when the details are ironed out.

I'm curious, what does the group think is better for asthetics and function, round hole about the size of a nickel or rectangular hole with rounded corners? No hole and cut your own? Any thoughts?

I would have a rectangle with round edges. The more room the better.

I'm putting in a vote for a hole in the windshield about the size of a half dollar. Simply because I am tired of spilling fuel on the windshield while trying to make quick pit stops during races. The nozzles on some filler bottles are also too big to fit in a nickel sized hole. One more good note is that most people would cut a larger hole anyway to allow airflow to the engine.
    I'm so smrt. D'oh!

Exactly, how many cars did Traxxas guys destroy (no offense)? I've noticed at the pictures and movies of certain cars, they have no cooling portals and it looks very warm there so it looks like the cars over-heat very easily. Just curious, please don't get mad at me or anything.
