Chances are if you put a 2.5r in the jato you would not be able to tell the difference. Maybe when you get down to raw #'s. The only plus that I see with the 2.5r is its cooling head (better then 2.5 one), other then that nothing. You could stick a 2.5r head on it and call it a 2.5r haha.

i am surprised they didnt put the 2.5r in it. Also the aluminum pipe isn't on the truck neither. Those are two things that would be a good improvement on the truck.

Im sure it all has to do with keeping the price down. Yah I'm surprised too that its not a 2.5r but I'm still going to get it. Maybe put my fr18 in it if I find a nice way of gearing it lower.

the trx2.5 is a .15 motor. Some other good .15 motors are the OS motors. I think tower sells them.

alot of tracks alow you to run a .15 if it came with the truck. But if you are going to run ROAR, you need a .12

You will have to check with your local track..

I think it is just a polished sleeve, not real porting difference. But this still adds performance.

People say that you really can't tell unless you get down to raw number's. but I guess more performance is better, even if it isn't a dramatic increase.

Some time I think they will come out the R for it....I hope. If people like the R that much they convert it in the Jato.

All you have to do to swap the 2.5 and the 2.5R is screw it into the motor mount how hard is that.

Yes because i thought that Traxxas discontinued making the regular 2.5, thats y when you do the engine replament program you get the 2.5r and not the 2.5

I think they used the 2.5 to keep the cost down. The 2.5R is made for the revo. All you need is a 2.5R head and the sleeve from the 2.5R. So when the stock 2.5 dies, you replace it with a 2.5R piston/sleeve and a 2.5R head. Then you have a 2.5R.

You can almost bet it wont be on any podium wins like the Revo. Nobody races with 2speed transmissions in a 1/10th statium truck and it probably will not be allowed at a sanctioned race.

If you look at the jato accessories the single speed conversion is already listed. It specifically says it's for racers who need to be ROAR legal.

hey #1 revo racer. Where are you in Delaware? The only differance between the 2.5 and the 2.5R is the head. A traxxas employee told me that all of the 2.5's now come with the porting updates. So if you want a 2.5R in your Jato, you only need to get the aluminum head.

The 2.5 in the Jato is the 2.5r-the blue cooling head.

from what iv heard they made the porting identicle (sp lol) to the 2.5r but didnt put the blue head on it.

    so there ya go

i thought rc car action showed it as having the blue head, was that speculation or was that just a demo. I thought that the 2.5's where being replaced with the 2.5R. i know tower doesnt sell the 2.5 anymore.

that makes sense, i know there is not much diff in the 2.5 and 2.5R but you think they would want to seperate it engine and all from the rusty.
