am i the only one or is every body about what motor is in this truck a 2.5 or a 2.5r wich is it
i asked the same question it is the 2.5 not the 2.5r
Chances are if you put a 2.5r in the jato you would not be able to tell the difference. Maybe when you get down to raw #'s. The only plus that I see with the 2.5r is its cooling head (better then 2.5 one), other then that nothing. You could stick a 2.5r head on it and call it a 2.5r haha.

i am surprised they didnt put the 2.5r in it. Also the aluminum pipe isn't on the truck neither. Those are two things that would be a good improvement on the truck.
Im sure it all has to do with keeping the price down. Yah I'm surprised too that its not a 2.5r but I'm still going to get it. Maybe put my fr18 in it if I find a nice way of gearing it lower.
is the trx2.5 race legal in the jato
if not what is a good engine to put in it
I don't think it is. I think .12 in the legal limit in racing..please correct me if I am wrong.
what would be a good .15 to put in it please put links of the bigest u can go in racing
thanks jackson
the trx2.5 is a .15 motor. Some other good .15 motors are the OS motors. I think tower sells them.
the head is not the only difference in the 2.5 and the 2.5r. the porting is slightley different
revo/21max jammin crt/jammin28
jammmin cr/ninja21
alot of tracks alow you to run a .15 if it came with the truck. But if you are going to run ROAR, you need a .12
You will have to check with your local track..
I think it is just a polished sleeve, not real porting difference. But this still adds performance.Originally posted by nitro hawk kid

People say that you really can't tell unless you get down to raw number's. but I guess more performance is better, even if it isn't a dramatic increase.Originally posted by Skullbasher

I really think both are great....so I don't really care which they put in it.
Sport-Maxx with: 2 Speed, Big Joes on Velocity 6 Chromes, HS-645MG Servo, and....Looking for a New RC to buy
i agree i like both motors but i like the bigger head on the 2.5r
Ya that is true..... wish it came with it. I thought it was suppose to have the R, but o well. The 2.5 regular is a great motor I like mine on my Sport-Maxx.

theres nothin we can do about guess the 2.5 just goin to have to do
Some time I think they will come out the R for it....I hope. If people like the R that much they convert it in the Jato.

All you have to do to swap the 2.5 and the 2.5R is screw it into the motor mount how hard is that.
T-Maxx 2.5 with: Dynamite aluminum bulks, Traxxas Big Bores, aluminum center skid, and pull start, Trinity Blue springs all around, Golden Horizens cooling head, RPM A-Arms and shock towers, Proline 40 series Big Joes on Velocity 6's, Hitec 645mg Steering Servo.
i agree they should just but the r in it and get it over with
Yes because i thought that Traxxas discontinued making the regular 2.5, thats y when you do the engine replament program you get the 2.5r and not the 2.5

i guess ther trying to get ride of the of all the 2.5s
Yeah they must have had a warehouse full of them. lol

they could just dump a few off on me if they needed to get rid of a few 2.5s![]()
I think they used the 2.5 to keep the cost down. The 2.5R is made for the revo. All you need is a 2.5R head and the sleeve from the 2.5R. So when the stock 2.5 dies, you replace it with a 2.5R piston/sleeve and a 2.5R head. Then you have a 2.5R.
Got nitro?
You can almost bet it wont be on any podium wins like the Revo. Nobody races with 2speed transmissions in a 1/10th statium truck and it probably will not be allowed at a sanctioned race.
I'd like to see a warehouse full of 2.5 Rs that would be cool. I hope to soon have a R in my maxx.

If you look at the jato accessories the single speed conversion is already listed. It specifically says it's for racers who need to be ROAR legal.Originally posted by raptormax

Newbies have vehicle problems.----Veterans have money problems.
yea i seen that single speed to
i cant wait no longer for this truck to come out
hey #1 revo racer. Where are you in Delaware? The only differance between the 2.5 and the 2.5R is the head. A traxxas employee told me that all of the 2.5's now come with the porting updates. So if you want a 2.5R in your Jato, you only need to get the aluminum head.
Got nitro?
I don't race I just want one to bash and go that fast with it...![]()
If you can't fix it. Smash it with a hammer...If that don't work hit it again...
Pittsburgh Steelers Superbowl XL Champions, Go Steelers
Im throwin my sirio .18 in it, if the rustler can handle it im sure the jato will be able too.
The 2.5 in the Jato is the 2.5r-the blue cooling head.
from what iv heard they made the porting identicle (sp lol) to the 2.5r but didnt put the blue head on it.
so there ya go![]()
Same here. Bash, and Fast all in one nice looking truck.Originally posted by tmaxxfreak

i thought rc car action showed it as having the blue head, was that speculation or was that just a demo. I thought that the 2.5's where being replaced with the 2.5R. i know tower doesnt sell the 2.5 anymore.![]()

those are pictures of slayden's JATO. He put the 2.5r racing engine in his and all of the accessories.
that makes sense, i know there is not much diff in the 2.5 and 2.5R but you think they would want to seperate it engine and all from the rusty.
