My first attempt at dyeing rocker arms

Heres a pic of my first attempt at dyeing rocker arms. I dyed the long travel black and P2's royal blue.

I dyed them and left them overnight to dry. The next day I was checkin them out, and noticed some of the dye was coming off on my fingers. I took paper towels and wetted them down and squeezed as much water out of them as I could and then wiped down both sets. I repeated this once more and now none of the dye comes off. The arms now have a nice shine to them as well. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Cool... the blue ones look nice.

So how (what method) did you dye them, and what dye did you use?

I used Rit clothing dye. Black and royal blue #29. Heres a link that was very helpful.

you think I may be able to change actual black parts to another color? I'm thinkin red all the way around. I know the rocker arms are grey to begin with but I don't know how well black would turn out after getting dyed. maybe I'll just try it on a spare part or something.

Looking good! I did mine up in black a while back... I also did the exhaust coupler and extension, brake linkage, fuel cut off and lines... I know I can't see the fuel but, still looks better!

I went out and got some "Scarlet" Rit dye, they didn't have a regular red at Wal-Mart. I dyed my rockers to see how it would turn out and here's the results. The color isn't that bad and the camera kinda distorts it a little bit. I'm gonna look for a brighter red and do my P2's. I also tried the dye on a black part but it doesn't work, incase anyone was wondering like I was.

Ah Civic read my mind, hehe.

I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool to dye them red to match the springs and the upgraded turnbuckles, and there it was.

Nice job both of you. I love the blue ones.

That scarlet color looks great. I might have to go and get some of that color and try it out. Still got the P1's and 3's to work with. Thanks for the pics!!

Thanks. I also dyed the 4-way wrench that is the same color as the rockers for the heck of it. Now, I can't get it confused with all of my friend's Revo tools.
