Any BL People running in Snow?

I was just wondering if anyone that has a BL emaxx are running them in the snow?...Cuz i know the repercussions of mixing water and electronics, and its taking a big chance w/ the expensive contorllers out there.

and if so..how are you going about waterproofing the controller.(as you can see my main concern is the controller, a 9918).

i would never consider running any electronic speed controller in the snow. let alone one of my BL controllers, but it sure would be fun.

From Dayton, Cincinnati, or Columbus, OH? Then check out CRCRC, indoor track in Columbus. www.crcrc.com . Also check out www.ohionitro.com ... Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting aloud, "I lived life like my E-Maxx".

take it from me i have learned the hard way and got my esc wet and it made popping noises then came the smoke, so now i have to let them fix it for 50 dollars. I tryed water proffing it but the wires left a gap i guess and some water got in also if u do run in snow make sure you can cool down the esc.

I have ran my bl maxx in the rain, never snow, just the same thing without the coldness. Rain just burns things out faster but i have never blown out an esc. Scroll down aways to the tread titled "how to protect your e maxx from water damage." It has a pic of my truck and how to seal it. I put the lexan box together with ISP Weld on 3 cement, but water sealed all holes with hot glue. I still put some ventilation holes in the box but since the esc is a Schulze 18.97KW (W stands for water resistent), it can with stand the little bit of water.

yeah wow I saw that box in your pictures on this forum

It looks really cool but i dont have any lexan..and even tho i could order some i really dont want to. I have a 9918 controller and i dont think its water resistant at all. Im thinking of just putting some hot glue in each end of the shrink wrap that covers the controller (where the three wires come out). But now that I think of it.. its not even worth chancing it..oh well ill just run it on the street for now...

Last Tuesday I got the idea to water proof my Stampede so I could drive her in the snow (I later did my E-Maxx too) and I did a very similar thing to moneybagsfor-rc. I didn't even see yours untill today. I used plexy glass and hot glue though. I also put a small fan from radioshack in mine with some vents in the back. My post is in the Stampede Froum. It's called Winter Driving 2004, but it's probably on the second page.
