I think it should be safe since it even says on the box that you can run 7 cells. On the other hand some people keep burning the motors up. Myself, I just ordered 2 7 cell packs from Pro-Match (they are the best), the ones for $63 (GP331657A). I got tired of slow speeds and wanna reach 30 MPH

would getting 7 cell batteries affect the run time and would the performance increase be in top end speed or accel. WOuld it affect the motors differently than the reg 6 cells??

those hump batteries won't work. You need to attach the extra cell in a certain position. Traxxas has a how-to on that, but im to lazy to look for the link

I did some chasis mods so that i could use a 7 cell flat pack. I kept on braking off the extra cell so i just mounted it flat on the chasis.

I have been running 7 cell GP3300's from cheapbatterypacks.com on my Maxx for 6 months now. The extra cells will give you a lot more torque and a little more top end. I run 19 tooth pinions most of the time and it will still pull wheelies in 2nd gear with no problem. I have been running 17 tooth pinions this summer to keep the heat in the motors down. It does put more stress on the driveline so expect to break a few more parts v/s 6 cell packs. They also put more heat in the motors so trim the body for more airflow and keep the motors clean and oiled. As far as run time, I get about 15-22 minutes depending on how I drive.

strictly speaking it should not improve runtime, but will help acceleration and topspeed. However, I've noticed that with 7cells I get quite a bit more run time. Part of this is because top speed in 1st gear is better, so I use that more (less strain on the motors). Acceleration is better so I tend to not be at WOT as long or as often. Also changing your pinions to slightly smaller ones is recommended with going to 7cells; smaller pinions help run time, temps, acceleration and low-end grunt. This is very easy to do. I use 16t pinions instead of the stock 18t, and I am still faster then stock with lots of wheelie power and acceleration even though my truck is quite a bit heavier then stock.

Yes, it's for each. Also, they come without connectors, at least mine did.

Also the wire size is listed as 14 AVG. 13 or 12 AVG is "better". The small the wire gauge, the larger the wire is. The larger the wire the better it's current carrying ability is.

    Good wire..... click me

    Hi Kenny1990
Yes you can use those battery packs easily.
You gonna put the battery hump side down. All you have to do is take out some of the bar that support the battery on the chasis.
If you dont get it, just email me (hsw21@yahoo.com) and I'll send you the pics about it.

    And about your questions above:
    possible-yes
safe-yes, but remember, more volt, more heat, so care more. (gear down or something).
    eficient-what r u talking about ?

advantage of THAT PARTICULAR packs - faster coz its 7 cells.
disadvantage - since its only 1700 mah, maybe the runtime is not that long. (maybe around 5-7 mins).

BUT for around $40 a piece, I suggest u get the real thing:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT
OR cheaper options, still fast and powerful but maybe not as the GP 3300 :
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT OR
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

    Good luck.

You should not buy any packs for the emaxx that use tin bars and spotwelding to connect the cells. Those kind of assembly materials do not hold up to well to the high amp loads of the emaxx.

i was asking if the flat pack style 7 cell battery packs fit in the emaxxes battery compartments, not if the ones i showed were GOOD or not that was just an example of what the style of battery layout i was wondering about.

That 7 cell pack will not work. Its too long. A 7 cell pack needs to be some form of a hump pack to fit in the emaxx

Can the battery compartment be modified to accept flat 7 cell packs as mentioned by someone above? Is it a major mod or pretty simple? I have 6 sets of flat 7 cell packs from my boat that I'd like to use in an Emaxx.

If you want to used those packs you could just fork over about $9 for some gorillamax battery straps.

You can put them underneath or get rid of shifting servo. Also you can cut the chassis too if you want to weaken it. I think I was able to put 8 cells flat underneath.

    battery prices

You can get quality 7 cell packs for much less than 63 per pack. Promatch has a set of 2 for $81 (GP3300ST7X2) - http://www.promatchracing.com/miscbatt.htm

Of course it would be a good idea to change out the connectors from tamiya to deans but that would only be a few bucks.

holy cow, which ones did you buy?

For $63 you can get 1.165-1.169 matched packs assembled from Promatch.

I got 6 matched 1.150-1.159 7 cell assembled packs from Promatch for $250 in April.

There current prices are a bit higher, but I read on their site they are using the new GP's which are better batts, and they said it is reflected by a small price increase. They don't even sell my matched voltage anymore, I guess because of the new batts.

Any of you guys ever thought about building your own packs?

You can get the GP 3300's as loose cells for $4.50 a pop, making 2- 7 cell packs for $63 bucks, if you have the rest of the equipment..

The Traxxas link for doing this is.. http://www.traxxas.com/support/howto...build7cell.htm

I am inbeteen right now.. trying to decide if I want to build my own or buy already built packs..

So with the Gorilla straps you can run a normal 7 cell flat pack??

I usually wind up buying pre-made packs then rebiulding them when a cell or two happens to go bad. If I get enough I make a new pack with like cells.

Many racers and bashers biuld all their own packs, It's pretty easy if you have a battery cell jig, soldering skills and equipment.

I think what you posted is the cheapest.

I'm listing robotic power as $4.70 and battstation as $4.25 for quantity of 100+, Zbattery for $3.99

I think all these are old prices, if you can get them for $4.50 let me know.

I have some, they're ok. They do last longer then the GP's they provide nearly identical performance. I haven't done a "same" v. "same" comparison between the GP3300 and the Sanyo 3600.
I plenty of GP3300 packs, but none were all that fresh (new).
Most of them had 10-20 runs on them... (can't be sure) and the Sanyo's I compared them to had only 2-3 runs (just break-in on the cells).
The GP's aren't worn out, or behaving badly... but they might not be at their peak either.... that said.
Run Time: 3600 = 10-15% better (at same speeds)
    Acceleration: 3600 = 1-5% better.

    SPC Batteries

has matched and assembled packs for an E-Maxx for $63.95 per pair. I run them in my Maxx and it easily pulls second gear wheelies when using 19 tooth pinion gears.

so compared to my santo 2400s they'd be a big jump eh?
