    Newbie Battery Questions

How much run time will a STOCK e-Maxx get ? I know it depends on batteries. Can I get some examples?

Does HIGHER rated (MAH) batteries give more speed? power? or runtime?

Same question for 7 cell vs 6 cell what do you get for the add'l cells? Speed? Power? Runtime?

If I DO NOT WANT super hi-performance but DO WANT longer run times what should I get?

Basically this would be just for tooling around the yard or the playgound (blacktop and lowcut grass).

Battery recomendations for the most runtime with the least chance of damaging the ESC or motors?

    Thanks!

all these would be an average 1st and 2nd gear run on off-road surfaces:
    12cells:
    1700mah - 6mins - Nicad
    2000mah - 9mins - Nicad
    2400mah - 10mins - Nicad
    3000mah - 14mins - Nimh
    3300mah - 15mins - Nimh
    3600mah - 17mins, estimated not out yet!

14cells: more power but not as longer runtime!
    1700mah - 4mins - Nicad
    2000mah - 7mins - Nicad
    2400mah - 8mins - Nicad
    3000mah - 10mins - Nimh
    3300mah - 13mins - Nimh
    3600mah - 15mins, estimated not out yet!

Nicad and Nimh are types of batteries, nimh will run longer but nicads give more power!

If you want long runtime and enough power for a backyard then 12cells GP3300 would be perfect.

    One more question ...

Why would I (or wouldn't I) want "MATCHED" packs. They are obviously more expensive therefore they are "better" . But do I really need them ??

matched means the cells are analized on an idividual basis, and then their specs are matched with 5 other cells then sold as a pack. this makes the pack run cooler, longer, and stronger then an unmatched pack. like at www.promatchracing.com their 1.15 assembled packs are very cheap, some times cheaper then others unmatched sport packs. my first 2 packs from them lasted 2 and a half years and are still going strong with a new owner and now my battery box has 5 promatch packs and 2 power push packs.

Promatch is one of the best matchers in the world, you cant go wrong with them.

    7 cell v. 6 cell.

If you drive more or less the same, 7 cells last longer since you need less throttle for the same speeds. Also with 7cell packs you typically gear down a little which also helps run times.
I have both and have directly compared them.
All run times are variable since temp, etc all impact run time. So, even if you could completely control your driving to drive exactly the same everytime, it would not be the same.

    6 cell
    Dynamite 1500mah nicad = 10-15mins.
Venom Racing sportpacks (3000mah NIMH) = 10-20 mins.
    GP 3300 = 15-25mins
    Sanyo 3600 20-30mins

    7 cell
    GP 3300 = 15-35mins

Also the higher Mah packs tend to be faster. The 7cell packs are much faster.
