    Best Motor for MSC

Hey guys, I am gettin ready to upgrade the motor in my original pede but I don't want to spend too much on it right now... I am building another pede with a lehner 5300 or Hacker C series but my main question is... what is the fastest motor I can get with a stock mechanical speed control or would it be better to get a cheap esc and a motor?

    Thanks,
    Wesson

    Thanks,

The SEARCH button doesn't seem to work the best for me, so I appreciate your answer, and accept the insult...

Guys I think he's asking for the BEST MOTOR for his msc. Just saying a 17 turn motor is not the best answer(there are many 17 turn motors, and I think he wants to know which one is best for speed). The fastest 17 turn motor is not in the stampede FAQ. Anyway, your best bet would be to get a cheap esc and maybe the Speed gems pro amber 17 turn, its probably the fastest 17 turn. But if you get a esc with a different motor limit then maybe something different.

BTW I agree i have had problems with the search too.

Getting a new ESC would defeat the purpose of this thread...*shrugs*

The Kyosho Atomic Force is $10 cheaper than the Amber, and is comparable if not better in performance.

You can't really get "maximum" performance from the MSC in any form, so I probably wouldn't waste my time with buying a new motor; you won't see it's full potential IMO.

Yeah, but since they but fixed timing and bushings in it, performance won't be the same as before.

Has anyone actually verifed this, or is it still just a kind of 'rumor'?

Someone verified it a while back (no, it was not arceeguy, I belive it was Samurai, actually) and that person called Tower and Kyosho and both said that the AF now has fixed timing and bushings. I will do a search right now to find the thread.

EDIT- ah, I found it, and arceeguy did say it. (From this thread)

I wonder if it was because of this experience I recently had with an Atomic Force that had fixed timing and bushings.......

This has me concerned that Kyosho is "cheaping out" and the Mad Science motors are now being shipped with bushings and fixed timing. (could be that Tower forgot to mention the fixed timing) Maybe they sent me the last of the ball bearing motors to replace my bushing equipped motor, then changed the product description.

The Kyosho Mad Science home page still describes them as having bearings and adjustable timing.

I'll need to fire off an e-mail to Kyosho because this is confusing - and I just ordered a pair of Krypton Krystals.......

It is still up in the air as to whether the Mad Science motors have adjustable timing (making them rebuildable) and ball bearing supported armatures.

This is the latest thread about them. (found it using the SEARCH feature )

Oh... THAT was the one I was remebering. I did a search, too, and I couldn't find it.
