    clutch shoe life

How long should clutch shoes last in my .15 Rustler? It's not driven everyday, and I don't drive it too hard when I do. When I first bought the Rusty used for $25 I went to my LHS with a list of everything I needed. I had the stock clutch shoes on my list, but the guy at the LHS told me thats these clutch shoes (Hardcore Racing Alumium ones) would probably outlast the car. I've been through two of them already in 1 and 1/4 of a year, is this good or bad? Should I just use the stock shoes. What are they made of? Also, the aluminum on my shoes rubbed over the spring and locked it in there and broke it at the two edges of the shoes. Can I fix this by using a file to get rid of the aluminum and use a dremel to smooth out some of the other parts. It won't be a perminent thing, just as a quick fix. Thanks for any info, sorry its a little long

The guys at my lhs store told me that you may have to replace them after every gallon of fuel and so far they are right , the stock clutch lasted just over a gallon and the mip lasted about 3/4 gallon , but that doesnt seem right to me

thanks shane Now I can tell my dad that clutches don't last almost forever like the ones in real cars do.

BTW, heres pics of the clutch shoes

See the pieces of spring still stuck in there. The only reason why I even looked in there was because the clutch wasn't grabbing so I figured the spring broke, and sure enough, it did.

See how the aluminum rubbed over the spring. Is it even worth trying to do a quick fix for now?

Do you think the broken spring could have caused the shoes to wear like that? Thanks every1

I fixed 'em! They look pretty good to, but they still dont have much life left in 'em. Should I go for the stock shoes or get the same aluminum ones again? Also, I was thinking about a 3 or 4 shoe clutch to maybe do some wheelies in the rusty

The stock shoes are pretty cheap - and your expensive aluminum shoes aren't lasting very long. So unless you are getting some other performance advantage, why not stick with the $7 stockers?? (That's what I would do anyway)
