    more power

    hey guys im kinda new to the hobbie and i was wondering what engine i could put in my 4tec to get more bottom end power.
    i want it to accelerate quicker i have it on the lowest speed ratio but i woulike more botton end power.
    im sorry if this seems like a dumb question

    do you have the 2.5? if so there are a few engines that sill have better bottom end. if you have the pro .15 there are tons.

    Better low end compared to another car? You can swap engines and pipes for a slight gain, but odds are if you are trying to compete with a Mugen, Serpent, or Associated on the low end it probably won't happen. Even acceleration gearing on the traxxas is not as high a ratio as you can get with those other cars. My Mugen, when geared right, will smoke my 4-tec pro off the line no matter what engine I'm using. It just has more gearing options. The traxxas gearing is pretty good on a slightly more open track though. There used to be a gentleman on these forums who modified some Ofna gears I beleive to raise his ratio for even more bottom end. If you haven't done it yet though, swap your clutch shoes around backwards so they engage trailing edge instead of leading edge. This helps quite a bit too. It's not quite as good as a Centax, but it is a fairly significant improvement and easier than trimming or drilling clutch shoes to tune them.
