    General Electric "Superadio III"

Just wondering if anyone owns one of these radios, and if they are really good at picking up distant stations.

I live in between the Philadelphia and New York radio market, so it is difficult for me to get good radio reception. I actually need exceptional AM performance because one of my favorite sports stations is 660AM WFAN in NYC. I did a quick internet search, and it seems that the GE Superadio III has developed sort of a cult following over the years. Granted, 50 bucks for an AM/FM radio with no CD or tape player is a bit steep - but it is alot cheaper than a CCRadio Plus which is apparently the gold standard for "talk radio" fans.

I've purchased and returned over 6 different radios from Radioshaq, Sony and Panasonic and none of them could pull in 660AM where I live........

We have a couple of the CC Radios and they are really good at getting reception on even the hardest stations to get. We have one that is starting to go out but he have had it for like 4 years. They are one of the best radios I have seen for getting stations that a normal radio just can't pick up.

Only the better radios have external antenna connections. None of the other radios I have tried had provisions for an external AM antenna.

Just noticed that the CC Radio website also sells the GE Superadio. Amazon.com has them for $45. Too bad I can't find a store that sells them locally. (tried wally world, target, etc.)
