68 camaro z28 rs. had a crazy engine.... bhp was rated at 290 but was actually 340. its hot....its a 327 block with a 283 crank so it revs high, and was 302ci so it could run trans am series. my father had one with some nice mods. car was seriously a race car with mufflers sold to civilians. i wish he didnt sell it, we are gonna restore an old maro soon. oh yea and the rs was cool bc the headlights flipped lol.

'68 corvette L-88 It is equipped with a 427 engine which "boasts lots of power" (lol, found that on an ebay auction). Power isn't everything in a muscle car (close to it), it has to look cool to

Hmmm, tough question. I'd go for a 1965 Polara 426 Max Wedge, 1968 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi, 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Hemi, or 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda AAR (340ci only). In its day, nothing could touch a Hemi. On the Speed Channel's coverage of the Barrett-Jackson auction, I remember hearing Derek Daly say "Hemis just laughed at everything else".
The 425hp rating was only a number put out to fool insurance companies. In reality, almost all Hemis topped 530hp stock, and a few left the factory with cams to top 700hp. Talk about an adrenaline rush - whoa!

I'm not a Mustang guy, but if I'm not mistaken, that was a '67. There was no '64 Mustang, only a '64 1/2. Shelby GT350/500 models didn't come until mid-'66.

Im with you on that one! That is a sweet car. Just the sound of the 454 in a car is SWEET!!!!!

And yes the mustang in gone in 60 seconds is a 1967 and there was only about 400 of them made..And actually on ebay about a month ago, eleanor sold for 250,000 thousand dollars..I aint lying either..Thats the truth.

I liked all of those cars you posted. For '65 though I would have to go for the Belvedere II. I like the looks of the E-Body Cuda but for the strip, I Like the older A-Body Cudas. They were lighter that the E-Body. I would try to stay away from the early Cuda's (Before '67) just because the engine compartment is a little on the small side

You were correct about the Mustang.

I like corvettes, but a cobra is hard to beat. Anyone ever seen the factory five cobra kits? That would be a sweet project. I also like just about anything with a 427,440,454, etc.

about 20,000 $$$ and a few hundred hours of work, a kit sounds good compared to the real thing. With a stock mustang engine a cobra kit will do 0-60 as fast as lamborghini diablo. The accel would feel like gettin' hit from behind.

Here is a link to a twin turbo 440 1965 Plymouth Belvedere II

    http://www.pentastarpower.com/feets/newpage.html

Here is a list of the fifty fastest muscle cars according to this guy. Only one V-6 made the cut........ The 1987 Buick GNX. I agree that this was one fast car and could be made amazingly fast

    http://www.musclecargarage.com/50fastestmusclecars.html

Here is a link to a website dedicated to the Buick Grand National. There is one that does the 1/4 mile in under 8 seconds with a V-6 and makes over 1400 hp.

As far as the Corvette ZO6 goes I don't believe that list is new enough to list it.

Actually the 66 Satelite was available with the HEMI. Many refered to it as the Belvidere but it was the Belvidere Satelite. Here is one page where you can read about it.

    http://www.musclecarplanet.com/History/Plymouth_66.htm

    And another

    http://www.hubcapcafe.com/ocs/pages01/plym6601.htm

And an auction on eBay where they are selling an origional ad describing the 426 HEMI Belvidere Satelite

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7900257695

LOOK AT NUMBER 30 ON THE LIST!! Buick GNX= Buick Grand National!

Im sorry but I dont believe that the sattalite had the hemi. I have found nowhere saying (besides that site) that there was a sattalite with a hemi, and I have not found any for sale. Unless its like other cars that only a few were made with a hemi...

If you look at LiveLarge44's post above, you'll see a few. My dad had a new one as his first car, way back in 1967, I believe...

Here is a site that lists production numbers for the 1966 Hemi Satellite.

    http://www.440magnum-network.com/inf...iproinfo.shtml

Looks like there was a total of 844 Belvedere Satellites made with the HEMI in 1966 which is more than they put in the Coronet or charger that year. If you include the entire Belvedere line there was 1521 with Hemi's. That is better than 55% of the Hemi's that year. You can probably convince me though if you just say that there were none built one more time.

Here is one more site for you.

    http://www.allpar.com/model/satellite.html

One more thing.....If you are looking on the internet for info you will need to spell Satellite correctly.
