When buying rims for the Maxx, we don't go by measurements like real vehicles. Just look for Maxx specific wheels and they'll work. Go to www.pro-lineracing.com/proline.html and you'll see what I mean.

Somebody please tell me that we are not limited to what Pro-line has to offer for rims and bodys. There has got to be more choices out there somewhere. I thought I saw somewhere somebody had a Toyota Tundra body for the emaxx. Havnt found many choices for rims either, small cars get all the cool rims.
Please help.

I just linked to Pro-Line because they have by far the best bodies out there for the Maxx!!!
As for rims, there are MANY more manufacturers out there. I really like the RPM Clawz, www.rpmrcproducts.com

Thanks, thats better for rims, do you know any other places for boddies.

HPI make some bodies for the Savage that will fit the Maxx. www.hpiracing.com
I don't know of any other company really, there's the odd one's such as Parma (don't know the url), but the detail isn't anywhere close to Pro-Line.

So basicly what your saying is that Maxx tires will fit on Maxx rims. And these tires http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXAGB9&P=ML will fit on these rims http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXDVL4&P=ML

Body wise, you can be pretty free so long as it sin't too small, I only have one body that was intended for an E-maxx in my body stock for it. Just should be about 180mm wide minimum, most of mine are 190mm.
Imex also makes wheels and tires, I have their Jumbo Chevrons, not a high performance tire, but very cool looking on a maxx!

There are 100's of bodies avialable for the e-maxx.
There are also close to 100 rims types.
I have RPM clawz (wider offset) in dyeable white, (dyed black)
SportMaxx rimms (20% lighter) and stock rims. Some of the other choices include lots of different aluminum rims, beadlock rims (no glue needed) and so on and on. Plus there are the larger rims (and tires) from Pro-line, Imex and others.
Bodies:
I have a 1940 van (aka gravedigger, but painted like a Norwegian flag). (a proline body)
a 1957 chevy truck (with tool box in the bed) painted 3 colors (metallic green with black trim, and the tool box in silver).(do not recall, think it is a proline)
a 2003 VW bug (great for bashing since it often self rights), painted yellow with a blue wedge coming forward. (a HPI body)
a 1950 "classic" VW bug called a "B-maxx" same paint as the modern one. Came with a driver and a light kit (a Parsec(?) body)
a 1967 427-Cobra convertible (looking for a rollbar so I can put this on my e-maxx) comes with driver and windshield.
a 1937 coupe (looks like a Plymouth) unpainted (a Bolink body).
a 1940's Firetruck (for my son, unpainted) (a Parma body)
a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse painted white with a black roof and black trim (a HPI body).
The two VW bodies have been retired. My buddy fell on the 2003 when I raced past his ankles at 25+mph. And another one rammed the 1950's with his metal e-maxx at 30+mph.
The B-Maxx (1950's style) was alot easier to fit since it was designed for the E-Maxx. But the 2003 bug body was rounder and so self-righted better. And it was thicker (.040 vs. .030). I liked how the e-maxx drove with the VW body so much that I now have a new (unpainted) 2003 VW body.
I love my e-maxxs, but I don't really like trucks (and I HATE hotwheels looking paint jobs, ie flames). So I tend to keep car bodies of some kind on them. They look cooler and often have a lower cg (by some trivial amount). But few of them are as thick as the truck bodies. So far I've found that those note marked to indicate their thickness HPI and Parma are the best. Pro-Line has a few that are VERY strong .060, and nothing compares to those for strength.
Another body I have not tried yet is Hotbodies.
Stormerhobbies.com and towerhobbies.com both have a very good selection of all of the bodies I mentioned. I typically buy them from my LHS so I can see them first. Also any LHS will order you in any body you ask for.
I wish Pro-Line would expand it's mega-strength bodies to include vintage cars. Even more interesting would be if HPI, Parma and the rest would start competing with Pro-Line for the strongest body contest. For some reason it is really fun to see these old cars from the movies blasting around the track or the "bashing" lot.
Any 1/10 scale body that is at least 190mm wide can probably be adapted to work on the e-maxx. If anyone finds any cool and extra thick vintage bodies or ralley car bodies, please let me know.
Also search e-bay, even if you don't want to bother with an auction and the risks associated with buying from strangers, you can still get a good feel for some of the stuff out there.

Bjorn, I find 180mm is about right, although msot car bodies are 190mm.
I've done 3 hot bodies for my maxx, all are ultra thin lexan, not recommended for bashing! The rear of my porsche cracked after being paintedbefore it was run, wasdamaged in travel, was a tailight was bent in, I bent it back in shape, but it was stressed, and the paint soaked in and cracked it. I just cut the whole rear off so it would like nice.
This is my hot bodies Mclaren F1.

The unfortunate Hot Bodies Porsche, lloks agressive and more offroadish with the rear end cut off

HPI does a good job, their bodies are very well detaield and have always looked absolutely super when done. Proline comes second, and I have yet to try Parma. Hot Bodies has never impressed me in the 3 I have tried.
My favourite body has been the Proline TVR Speed 6, after a good washing, they still look and feel new even after having them for a while, pretty tough design. I have gotten two and painted them now, they are m favourite Proline I have tried on a maxx!
It has a veery muscular look to it.

Tires in the above picture are the Imex Jumbo Chevrons, on Imex Jumbo Diamond wheels, real high in the looks factor, but the truck is not as agile on them.
My other TVR, this is Proline 40 series bowtie on 40 series velocity 6 wheels.

Finaly, it in the "green machine" configuration, self colored green SportMaxx wheels with Proline Bowties, HPI Lotus Elise Sport body.

In total, I have like 9 bodies for my maxx at the moment, I want to to do a Proline Dodge, Peterbuilt, HumV, and a few more Sports cars.

Someone here asked about body choices. I also went into details on the wheels/tires in the pictures.
Tires/wheels I know of.
UnlimitedEngineering - High quality expensive aluminum wheels.
Maxximizer - Beadlocks, no glue required.
Imex - Good looking wheels and tires.
Proline - Style and race oriented wheels and tires.
Ofna - They make some monster sized tires, such as the "oval pin".
Traxxas - Stock tires will last a long time, and offer decent performance in many catagories. Traxxas also offers some pretty good wheels, from the lighter sportmaxx, to the standard E/T which are pretty strong.
I know I am leaving out some aluminum wheel makers, I can not remember their name, someone here uses them, and can fill it in.
I think there are also HPI wheels/tires and I am leaving out one more.

Tervuren,
Nice bodies. I see we have similar taste in how to make our e-maxxes look. Someday I will get rid of 4-5 of "mint" condition traxxas truck bodies. I keep them around for now only incase I wreck a body and don't have a custom ready.
With reguards to rims, you left off RPM and their "stable-maxx" line which due to a wider-offset increases the width of the vehicle and makes me less likely to end up shiney side down.
They are available in a bunch of colors including dye-able white. Which when combined with a 50cent pack or RIT dye (from Fred Meyer, or any similar store) and you can have rims of any color you want. They are, according to my uncalibrated finger-tip scale(meaning I'm guessing), just slightly lighter the the stock rims, but not as light as the sportmaxx ones. But the extra 1/2 inch or so wider track really helps keep it from tipping or rolling.
I've also seen but not played with Hotbodies rims (also not on our list). HPI and Hotbodies rims both feel heavier then stock. And heavy = bad, since weight on and rotating object and especially the wheels impacts handling, accleration, etc.

I did forget RPM, I like the claws.
