On EBay there is a vendor called CHASE IMPORTS. They sell aftermarket aluminum threaded shocks for all kinds of trucks. The Maxx shocks have been going for about $55-65. He has some for a MGT truck http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5903305083 . These are 102mm long. The stock maxx shocks are 100mm long.
The extra 2mm is not a problem. The other difference is that the eyelet on the bottom of the shock is too long to fit in the arms of the Maxx.
Solution: WARNING YMMV! Use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the lip of the eyelet on the stock shock and firmly pull the eyelet out. Repeat the process for the new shocks. To pop the eyelet into the new shock simply line it up with the eyelet hole and presss it into place with the pliers.
It worked for me! I paid $41 for my shocks and they are better than the stock ones - although probably not as nice as the piggyback models.
