    Question after run oil

Is it really necessary to put it in after every run? The man at my lhs said that its only when your storing it for a long time. Or did he say that because maybe he didnt have it in stock? Can I use any oil such as WD-40?

i disagre, i use after run oil every time i put my truck away, wether it be a day or a week, espesaly sice it stops any H2O from screwing the engine up, and it also helps start the engine, keeps the metal nice and wet, and wont damage it the next time you try to start it due to more friction from the piston and sleeve being dry.

I have and always will use after run oil. The only time i dont use it is if i know that i will be runnin my pede within 24 hrs. I feel it is a very nessasary key to longer engine life. Imagine pouring some water into your automobile and being a quart low on oil and starting you engine. that is about the same as not using afterrun oil. I would definatly recommend it. As far as WD40 goes ive never tried it but ive heard people say they use it and have good luck. hope this helps you to decide to use afterrun oil

Come on dude! What did you truck cost you…$300…$400 dollars maybe? Whatever it was I bet it was a good chunk of change.

Yes…you should absolutely use some sort of after run protection! Nitro Methane is hydroscopic…it attracts water like there’s no tomorrow. Those who choose not to use some sort of corrosion protection for their engines are asking for trouble. I can just about guarantee if they were to pull the back plate off their engines they would observe signs of internal engine corrosion which is bound to lead to premature engine failure.

You don’t have to get fancy or spent a ton of money to protect your engine. Just stop by your local Wal-Mart and pick up a can of marvel mystery oil. To be honest with you I think that’s about all some of those “Snake Oils” are that they try to sell us.

Just a couple of words of caution though…

Be mindful to carefully clean around the glow plug hole if you decide to drop a little oil in the cylinder so as not to get any garbage down inside the engine. Same goes for the dropping of the after run oil down the carburetor venturi (which is my personal preference). Just take an old toothbrush or something, clean any dirt from around the filter boot before removing it, open the carb to full throttle, drop 4-6 drops of after run in the carb, crank the engine over half a dozen times or so and your truck will be good to go the next time your ready to use it!

I have used this same method for nearly 5 years now since acquiring my first Pro 15 and it has NEVER failed to start when I am ready to use it.

I use WD-40 to flush the engine out and then since I have it anyway, I put a couple of drops of after-run in the cylinder.

my local hobby shop told me to use kerosene but its a pain to put drops in the carb. i didnt listen to him cause he's usally liqured up so i went to another store to get after run oil. Its better to be safe than sorry. Its not like these engines are a dime a dozen.

    NSTAMPEDEJUSTIN,
waste of $$. after run oil cost about $3 for enough to use after everyrun for a year. It is very cheap and protects the internal parts of your engine. when your engine wears out alot faster than everybody who uses it, you will wish that u bought some.

AFTER RUN SHOULD BE MANDITORY IN ALL NITRO CARS IT KEEPS YOUR ENGINE RUNNING LONGER AND BETTER I PERSONALLY PREFER AFTER RUN.

My local hobby shop told me that after run oil does not take any affect of your engines from his experience. He says that he has put gallon after gallon of fuel in his engines
and the engines have never had a problem.I
never use after run oil on my engines and i havent had problems.I was told by some people that it doesn't necessarily help your engine
yet it cant hurt it,so its kind of optional.
i would use it if i were going to store it for the season, but other than that its pretty optional.I hope this helps.
