    Question Engine Cleaning

Hello, I recently acquired a Nitro Stampede from a friend. The tune pipe was missing a screw, and I believe that this is what made the Truck a greasy nightmare. I have since fixed that, but the engine is still really greasy. If I have the engine off of the chassis, can I go ahead and spray the engine down with a degreaser?

Thanks for the tip on the Trinity engine cleaner. I wasn't aware there was such a thing. I'm kind of new to Nitro. I don't think the soap and water comment was warranted though, we all know metal will rust . Although with most of today's engines being aluminum, I guess it wouldn't be all that dangerous now would it?

    Lightbulb

Bare aluminum oxidizes or corrodes from oxygen after awhile, even though it won't rust, the chrome plated sleeve, steel crank bearing, steel crank, wristpin, and starter shaft will rust inside the engine. After each run, be sure to put drops of after run oil inside the engine. I put 6 drops in the glow plug hole with the piston up, crank it over about 15 times slow with the pull starter, put another 8 drops in with the piston down, and put the glow plug back in. I noticed that 6 drops weren't getting down to the bottom where it needs to be. To get it down to the crank, you really need to put the oil in the carb, but I heard this can eat away the carb o-rings after awhile. If it's going to sit for awhile, spray some wd-40 in the glow plug hole. Just a tip, but anyway, i'm getting side-tracked. I use something called "tun-o-wash" or something else called Bowman's "precision parts cleaner" to clean parts of my truck, they are for electronics and dissolve grease and oil in seconds with no residue.

as for why your engine is getting "greased" all the time, check the gasket on the manifold, mine did that too. change the gasket and problem solved. I use denatured alcohol to clean my RC's it works wonders and cheap I can get 1 quart for like 3 dlls. out of wal mart, you'll need the spraying bottle in order to use it right. good luck.
Who are you? Why am I here? I want answers now or I want them eventually!

Also, the trx pro .15 has a tendency for the front bearing to leak oil. I have an OS engine now and the front bearing hardly leaks at all after 5 1/2 gallons of fuel through it.
