Just did a speed test with the Novak 5800, 7 unmatched 3300's, geared 18/90 with M2K tires (in a Pede). Almost exactly 30 mph over a 200 ft test run. I will have to retest that with more daylight but that seemed about right.

    21/90, M2k's, small front tires

Test area was a flat couple hundred foot parking lot. Kept getting 34.x's and nailed the 35.1 on the last run.

Hah! I was just thinking that tomorrow I would ha ve to try just that gearing, or even a 22. Did it thermal?

With the M2Ks up front it gets really dicey at speed. The front end is just floating. As told Swami, not only would you need small front tires but a spoiler to push down the front end would be awesome!

yeah, I think it's squirrely 16/90 (my bashing gearing) with m2k's up front. .

Believe it or not, geared 21/90 doin speed runs for 20 mins it was only warm in comparison to bashing at 16/90. A motor works a LOT harder pushin through grass and flingin dirt around. Man, that sounds fun. . I think I'll go outside :P

How do you GPS verify your speed?

    1. Get a GPS unit like the Garmin eTrex or Geko (~$100)
    2. Turn it on and let it locate the needed satellite connections
    3. Reset the Max Speed to 0
    4. Strap it to your R/C
    5. Drive the R/C on a flat, level surface as fast as it will go
    6. Stop and read what the GPS says for Max Speed

I was holding off posting in this thread until I could test my D5 14x1 on 10 cells.

    Well, I finally did it:

    Trinity D5 14x1 @15&deg
    10 GP3300's
    Duratrax Streak
    M2K's
    15/93 (same ratio as 14/87)
    40.2mph

I had gotten 31.7mph on 7-cells with the D5 and same gearing, so I was hoping for mid-40's, but I guess I'd have to gear up a bit for that.

But hey, 40mph with reasonable gearing ain't bad...

(BTW, on the last pass I ran out of pavement, the 'Pede went tumbling, and broke another titanium front camber link.)

I can tell you that 22/90 goes really fast but after five runs or so it shuts down. If you want SPEED for a one shot deal and you don't care how long it takes to get up to speed, go even bigger and see what happens. all you can do is have it thermal and protect itself.

    Right.....Stop lying.

Anyways, I estimate my Mag Mayhem to top out at around 20mph on 6 cells, and around 23-24 on 7. Just a guess though.
