    GA Bulkheads - question

OK, so I finally broke another major piece. This weekend I was doing some jumps off the big hill at my local gravel pit and I decided to practice jumps in 2nd gear (I've mastered 1st gear jumps - adjusting pitch in mid-air). Well, I had a few jumps go bad and ended up flipping over and landing on the top of the rear end pretty hard. Broke the rear bulkhead.

Now I need to decide whether I just replace it with a stock platic piece (under $8) or If I start a quest towards a 'Maxx Bling' of my own. I really don't see the need for a different chassis right now and I like my RPM wide A-arms, but aluminum does seem like a good thing to do in some areas. The bulkhead looks like it might be one of them. They aren't intended to flex much so alum. is OK there, plus the added strength would be good.

From lots of searching around here it appears that GA is the most respected one for this part. GA has their 6061 bulkhead set on sale now for $80. That's a lot of money for a couple little pieces of aluminum. Can someone help me understand why it would be good to make this upgrade? Need help pulling the trigger, basically.

    Thanks!
    Rob

P.S. Does anyone know why the GA bulkhead braces have a maxxtraxx.com logo on them? Is GA related to maxxtraxx?

GA's are great bulks. The reason they are so expensive, is that good machined aluminum peices, are much more expensive to manufacture then injectoin molded plastic.

The GA's, start out as a solid block, and are machined down to shape, this takes time, which translates to money.

This is what makes UE's VBS system to expensive, when I hold those little peices, I am always amazed at them. I am guessing, that they are made on a 7 axis machining center.

If, you where to break 10 sets of plastic bulks, you will spend as much as the GA's. Lets say it takes you half an hour to change them out, and lets say you work for $12 an hour, thats $140.

There are many ways to look at it. The GA's are what where used by the SuperMaxx people until the VBS came out, so I am going to assume based on that, they are the best on the market.

i think they are cheap compared to traxxas no offense traxxas.
it is like 70 dollars for on pair and GA's are 80 for 2 pairs and they come with braces if u decide to buy the kit.

OK, well I've pulled the trigger!

So, given the fact that I have a stock chassis, stock shock towers and RPM wide A-arms, do I need anything else to make the GA bulks work? I assume they come with all screws necessary. Do I need new A-arm pins?

    Thanks!

I just got mine today. Haven't installed. They do come with screws and you will need pins that have E-clips. Someone told me he uses the stock pins and they work fine, but they don't screw in all the way because they have that threaded part on them.
