    handling problem

OK, I will start by saying the answer is probably "your diff is too loose" but...

For a while now my Pede has shown some bizarre spin out problems. Started in winter while ice driving (no studs or chains), 13T speed gem, 6 cell, M2K's, steel outdrives, aluminum idler. You get on the throttle REALLY easy and the truck would start going fine. Get to about half throttle and it would donut. OK, that's ice, what else would I expect? Then, at the track- frozen dirt track, same thing with the same motor. OK, what else would I expect when driving on what feels like ball bearings?

I rebuilt the diff recently, using the standard silicone grease I have been using for years. Not the stiffest, but certainly stiffer than stock Traxxas grease. This weekend, now with a Chameleon 2 (7 cells though), I was seeing the same thing but now it was on high traction grass!?! Get going and when you are almost up to speed, the truck would just spin around. I haven't done that much 7 cell driving but over the few years I have had a Pede,, I have NEVER seen this happen on grass.

So, any ideas other than get a real thick axle grease or something for that diff? Thanks for reading the novel!

Maybe you should try to loosen up the slipper? I always go simple then go complex. Is your ESC set correctly? That's weird though because with an amber, BB 6-cell and numerous other hopups I can do rolling wheelies but have never heard or seen your problem. I betya its something simple though.

just for grins, try putting the stock tires back on. i did that just last week. hahahaha!!! couldn't even get to ¼ throttle!!! i've also noticed my m2k's doing much of the same lately ! i think they just get hard over time. kinda like a real car tire will "dry rot". i too, am getting the "donuts-in-the-grass" thing. i tried my buddies spankin' new m2k's, problem solved. i also noticed much more tread on his. (go figure?) didn't even notice mine were wearing until i had the new ones right next to them.

Good ideas guys. Thanks. I have actually heard of hitting older rubber with WD-40 to soften them up. These are old enough that they could be pretty stiff. Of course, the stock tires arent much better but I could try those. I just get real tired of not going in a straight line!

Try adjusting your rear shocks a little also. Really stiff shocks might make that happen.
