the 4- tec is a good car to start with but if u go through old topics u'll find out that its not the best fot the track.
if your serious about racing i'd look at like the HPI RS4, or the TC3.
they got better road handling

4-tec 2.5-some hopups
2.5 t-maxx-......
and if your looking to spend a good amount of money on these cars lokk into the Mugen MTX-3, Serpent 705 and 710, or the HPI R40.
i unno. i wanna car that looks cool, can win some races, then kick some *** on the streets. And i see how the t-maxx moves with the 2.5 I can only image that little frame being pushed.

I have a 4tec pro and it moves...fast. Its got alot of alum and carbon fiber on it stock...however your better off buying it used.

in the gallery of n 4-tecs on the first page nrustlerman231's 4-tec would be something i would like. What would it take for that? It looks pretty stock.

If you want a car that looks good, wins races, and throws down on the street then get the ntc3 and put a novarossi in it, 2sp., and some cf and alum.
Never get mad...Get even
I highly doubt that hed be wanting to throw that much cash down for all that...remember hes wanting to start in on road. The ntc3s suspension is set up good its just not strong...plus you could buy a used tec and make it race worthy for the price you could buy a factory team ntc3 or even a base model ntc3. Since he lives in new jersey (which is relatively close to me) serpents and mugens arent easy to get your hands on being that hes on the East Coast. Hpi cars arent all that fast either...a 4tec could absolutley blow one away.

what speed hog said is a good plan but there in a lot of money involved in that plan.

You'll have to completely change the set-up on any car to switch from track to street. That can rack up the cost of support equipment if you want to make changes that frequently with any kind of accuracyor consistency. Personally, I don't think it's possible to dominate a track without some serious equipment anymore, at least not in my area. That doesn't mean you can't be competitive, it just means you have to rely on driving strategy instead of all-out car performance. I've seen people get beat by some very patient drivers with less than perfect cars, just because they overdrove the car. Smooth is fast on the track or the street. You'll find that most hard-core racers don't run street. At least not with their "race" cars. I have delegated my 4-tec to bashing and loaning, and have a Mugen MTX-3 for the track. You don't need to know how much cash I have invested, it will just scare you to death. Let's just say it's cheaper than full scale racing and my wife let's me do it cause I can't kill myself in an RC car.

Thanks the information was really helpful. I'm still not sure yet, I think I'll sit on all of it for awhile. Thanks again.
