    Front wheels alignment + Shocks

    Hey guys.

My front wheels are pointing a little bit toward the exterior when I view the maxx from the top, the back wheels are straight forwad.

    Like this:

    \---/ front wheels

    |---| back wheels

The front wheels are pointing toward the exterior just a little (but you can easily see it with your eyes that there is a problem), but I think they should be straight.

    Any idea?

Second question, when I push on the truck from top to bottom, should the shocks make the truck come back to the original position when I release it? My truck comes back to a state where I have to lift it a little bit so that the shocks come back to a fully extended position.

My truck doesn't pop up back to the original height with the stock shocks. I've upgraded my shocks to hot bodies aluminum threaded and I'm using 50wt for the oil. I've also increased the tension on the spring, now the truck springs back up.

If you are still using stock shocks, make sure you have enough oil, clean the shocks, and use the higher/thicker shock spacers to stiffen the shocks.

For the steering you have to remove the turnbuckles on one end then turn tighten/loosen and make the proper adjustments.

hey alexrod99, what'd you pay for the Hot Bodies shocks and how do you like them? I was thinking of picking some up instead of rebuilding all 8 of my stock shocks.

My truck is brand new by the way, never used it yet.

One of my back wheels was having a toe-in angle of about -5 degree, so I had to play with the camber screw inside trough the rim. I have no idea why it came like that, all other wheels appear to be straight from a behind or front view

Now for the front steering, you say I have to unmount one of the end of the bright rod and screw or unscrew it until i see a change? Cant I just do it while both ends are plugged to the chassis?

For the shocks, Like I said my truck is brand new. I was just a little bit concerned about the fact that they to not expand completely after compressing the truck on the ground.

so you bought a brand new truck, and messed with the wheels because they dident look right? the stock setings should have ben lest alone. the front wheels shouldent be straight, them pointing like that is for beter stearing and jumping, and the screws on the a-arms are adjusted for the same reasons.

if i where you i would take a nice long look at the owners manual.

Yeah I read the entire thing a couple time.. not explanatory at all on that matter.

I dont want to be a bad guy, but in my opinion, when one wheel is not pointing in the same direction as the other (back or front) it is a problem.

I tried it a long time in my house and nothing was going straight (even stock)

I finally straighten everything up, and it's working like a charm.

Bu the way, in the manual, it say that the front wheel should be pointing straight forwad, and the back wheels one degree. PAGE 22 on the manual, they say that we need to adjust the front so that it point forwad?

They also say that we should have a -1 degree of camber on all the wheels. 3 Wheels we just fine, but the one back-right was having something like -5 degrees. Clearly not OK for me.

You don't have to disconnect the tie-rod ends at all. The turnbuckles have opposing threads so as you turn the shaft one way, BOTH tie rod ends will move OUT, and if you turn the shaft the other way, BOTH tie rod ends move IN.

These trucks are built in a assembly line type deal where time is money. I guarantee Traxxas does not take the time to set up each truch perfectly, so some end-user tweaking will likely be needed, even on an fresh out of the box E-Maxx.

reading the manual is advisable, ESPECIALLY for people who are new to monster trucks, the emaxx or R/C in general.

please don't put him down for it.

That is how I learned about the stock A-Arm's "Caster" adjustment! I'm no "team racer", but I do have a firm grasp on R/C, and the Caster adjustment was news to me! It is a non-issue now as I have RPM arms and GA7075 bulks - no Caster adjustment!

The manual is a good read, and once you read it once, that should be enough for anybody!

    Don't dog the newbies!

    Nupid Stewb,

I purchased my hotbodies for 13.99 a pair last November at Tower, the shocks were on sale.

Its stiffer than the stock, smaller shock bodies. Looks great on the truck. You can't beat that price.
Hopefully it goes on sale again.
