Cool Where to get shock socks and cheap?!

Hey I was thinking some shock socks might looks cool on my Stampede. I'd like purple ones preferably. Where would I find some? And are the rear shocks on the Pede the same as on the TMAXX...my friend gave me a couple and they look the exact same size...the front ones looks shorter tho.

Go to Happy Harrys or a party store and buy balloons. The long skinny ones. THey arent much money and u have a bunch that are cheap. Thats what I used to do. You will also need the top piece of a 2 liter bottle (like a Coke bottle) just cut the top off so u can slide the balloon on and put the shock thru the middle.

Yea they look good! They are nice and tight. They rip eventually but you can just replace them with ease. The top of the coke bottle is so that u can stretch the one end with the piece that the cap screws on. Then you can slide the shock right into the balloon with ease. You dont need it buts its a bit more convenient.

i LOVE my shock socks....i have blue, yellow, and green ones...they are EXTREMELY easy to clean...just throw them in the washing machine and let air dry or simply wash them by hand in the sink...i think they look much nicer than balloons too...i got mine from stormer, but if you have a paypal account i think you can order directly from socks4shocks

here are a couple of pics of my yellow ones...the greens are going on my big bores, when they get here...

    I've used the balloons.
They look great but I got tired of constantly replacing them.
I'd break at least one every run.

If you are not afraid of a needle and thread....

You can make them yourself. The material was about the same price as a package of balloons and I have enought to make a hundred probably. I can't beleive hom much profit is being made on those shock socks.

Just cut the cloth longer than the spring (so you can tuck in the ends) and wide enough to wrap around the spring plus some extra for the stitch. Sew them inside out so the stitch will be hidden like the ones you buy.

I couldn't beleive how easy it was. Just took a little time.

I agree with Highlanduh: the balloons just never lasted very long.

I think it was double knit polyester. You want a synthetic material with a really tight weave that has some "stretchiness" to it.

Lycra Spandex might be the best since it stretches like crazy.

ok might be a new idea,,just bought plastidip for servos and got to thinkin and doin this,,what i did was rolled glad cling wrap"suran wrap" around the spring like 3 times, twist ends, and dip twice in plastidip""letting it dry first coat"" it came out sweet, havent feild tested them cus i dont have a motor but they seem like they will last and not absorb stuff like cloth ones,,also, seems they might have made shocks a little stiffer ,i would posts pics if i had a digital cam but it would take time and money for pics let me know if anyone trys it and how they like it,hope im the first to do it,"" and it does work"""

That's a really cool idea, sewing them. My mom does that stuff for a living, she works in our basement, her work has been in magazines and stuff, so i'll try to get her to help me with it. It would be cool if i could get a set!

Stampeedee is right that guy does make a profit.after 1 set i went out, bought the material and made a bunch.

they help alot though.keeping the dirt off the shafts to prevent the o ring in the cylinders from wearing.
