would a ripped coupler have anything to do with it. like wen u go to prime it it might not have enough compression to push fuel into the carb![]()

Yes, a ripped coupler can very well be the problem. Tell him to immediately replace it. If it still continues after he replaced the coupler then the problem is else where.
if you take off the pressure line where it connects to the pipe and blow in it, does fuel get to the engine? check to make sure there is no cracks in the tank. otherwise, replacing the coupler should solve it.
His cap on the fuel tank might not be fitting tight enough against the rim on the tank so air might be leaking there and not providing the pressure required to push the fuel to the carb.
