    engine trouble/ top speed

right know i have my high speed needle at about 3 1/2 to 4 turns out. is that bad?? but it will only run good when it is out that far, if i lean it out to 2 1/2 it dies when i give to much gas! my low speed needle is flush, the car idles fine and takes off pretty good, but when i get near full throttle it seems to bog/heasitate. any ideas will help thanks

richen the high speed needle in 1/16 turn increments until it wont bog out. bogging out is a sign of running too lean. it wont take much to get it running correct.

in the manual it says you should see a thin line of smoke from the exhast, and i see more than a thin line, the more throttle the more blue smoke. is it posable to be to lean at 3 1/2 turns out??

ok i just checked the site, and you are half a turn richer than break in. go half a turn and lean it out from there.

Are you sure your letting your engine warm up before you gas it hard? Becuase with mine if I gas it hard before it's not warmed up all the way it would stall, but after its warmed up completly it would be just fine.

i let it warm up plenty!! i don't yet have a digital thermometer, and it does get hot to the touch after a few fast runs. i can drop a little spit on top and it bubbles up kind of fast. my concern is the manual says to lean engin for top preformance and mine seems to need to be richer for top preformance?

do u have the .15 or the 2.5??? if you have the .15 i have the same thing and my engine needs to run about where your needle is to run right. and my exaust is pretty thick. you never tune the engine by the exaust, tune the engine by its performance. when engines are older they tend to run rich and are not as fuel efficient.

Hey ckrazy1. If it is "bogging" (sounds like its gurgling and sputtering) at high speed, then your too rich. If the motor is "cutting", without a gurgling sound, then your running too lean. Usually, if your running to rich, the engine will sputter and decrease in rpm's before it stalls. Conversely, if your too lean, it will seem to just instantly stall, with the possibility of an engine rpm increase as it stalls. Hope this helps.

i have the .15. its a good engine, it's really fast. i wasn't sure if i had a problem or not but now it seem like i might not, so if i richen it by 1/8 a turn or so i should be runnin good. i wasn't sure if it was bad to be running that rich but all of you helped thanks.
