well i guess im gonna buy a stampede, on a tight budget. still donno if i want the machanical or esc, i hear the esc can fry easier then the msc,

just wanna know if the stampede even has the power to go in a sandpit, i never really hear about people that go in them, so i was curious??? im talking about stock gearing and stock motor???

from what i herd, you should be able to, if you have a good batt, possibly a 7+ cell batt. And it would probably help to buy paddle tires. and make sure you have ur geer cover on.

Well, sand can be pretty bad on an r/c, but i suppose its possible to do. I should thing it would do it, can't really tell unless i see a pic. Dont ahve any sand pits here in TN .

unless you want to clean every single part, I wouldnt bother with sand, I didrun in the sand once and it was fun, but sand got inside the servo and esc and made my pede feel "crunchy"

Soudnds like the servo worked real real well after that .

but with my t-maxx i always drive in sand, and theres no cover for the spur. and sand never got in the servos. hmmm i guess i will have to wait and see

I've never done it personally, but from what i've gathered, the main problem is the rear mounted motor. I don't really know about the servo, but i'll admit i'm a little surprised...

It's right there at the back where sand can fly up in it very easily. That could cause the brushes to jam or wear incorrectly. I don't really know the particulars, but i've heard many warnings against doing it.

As common sense would tell you, don't enclose something that gets so hot in a tight container. I guess a heatsink and a wheelie bar or skidplate would help a lot, but it's still no guaruntee. I myself would never try it, but if you're bent on it, my advice is get out there and do it, but be ready to pay the consequences if and when the time comes.

I haven't tried to run sand yet, but I have done snow and paddles and ribs were a must on some of the softer stuff. I guess if you want to protect the motor you could always make a lexan shield for the motor to keep the sand/snow off of it. I also made a shield for the bottom of the truck to keep just about anything damaging off the electronics from sheet lexan. I would rather vacu-form it, but just bending the lexan is good enough for my purposes.

There was not that much sand in the servo, maybe a dash , but to a neat freak, that means dirty , it mostly got all in the reciever and my ole' xl-1

make a gaurd. hook some metal sheets or something like a 3/4m a bowl around the rear end. But have it go out a little to cove most the tires. it should block most of the sand from hitting the motor.

ive ran in the sand before.the sand got in between the plastic servo gears and the servo saver and stripped the servo.now that i have my hs 645 i dont hesitate to go out and run in the sand.
