    cold weather performance

I was out using my rustler yesterday and it was like 45 degrees outside. but it was tuned when it was like 75 degrees. It seemed to go slower and stall while accelerating. is this just because its cold and the air is denser? how much richer should i make it? thanks for the input

In colder weather you'll want to richen the mixture.

You're right about air density, oxegen molecules are closer together in cold weather than they are in hot weather.

Humidity and altitude also affect air density.

I had the same thing happen last night. I had a huge difference in performance because I had driven in 70-75 degree heat last time and it was 50-55 last night.

You do in fact need to richen it up because you need more fuel to balance the dense air. I would say richen about 1/16 - 1/8 depending on the amount of change in the weather.

i had to richen it almost 1/2 turn i richened it 1/4 and it started to studder when accelerating but then again it was like a 30 degree temp difference. so its like between a 1/4 and a 1/2 turn is how much i richened it.

Based on my experience I would say that is just fine. It's amazing how 30 degrees can make such a huge difference.

    Engine temp changes?

Should the engine be running at the same temp. regardless of outside temp?

well i would think not becuase since its colder the air is denser which means it would be running leaner. but then if u richen it it would even its self out i would think, but im not sure

Yeah - it should generally run the same temp all year round. It's the outside air temp that changes making the OVERALL temp lower or higher.

If you have the 2.5, in good tune it should be running in between 140-160 + outside air temperature.

For example: outside where I am it is 55 degrees today...so I would be running temps between 195 - 215.
