    WHEN U FIT A NEW SPUR GEAR SHOULD IT BE NICE AND SMOOTH MOVING WITH NO EASE OR SHOULD IT BE TIGHT???????PLEASE REPLY!!!!!

    brand new should be a little tight. It's because the people that machine the spur gears leave about 1/50" of material on it so that it can directly mold on to your clutch bell. After about half a tank it's nice and easy to move....

    tight so the wheels don't move or tight so the wheels turn but hard to turn????

    if you put your finger on the spur when it's new it should be hard to move back an foruth. Um if you pick up the rear end the tires should move If not then i would think that you have it set to tight that the paper trick won't fit. Or you have something binding in the transmission......

    Just spoke with a tech. at Traxxas about this very same subject and they said to do the following…

    Loosen your motor mount screws, place a strip of paper between the clutch bell and spur gear, mash them tightly together and tighten the engine back down. All there is to it! They said that this holds true for setting the gear lash on any of their trucks.
