You need a new radio and receiver to go from AM to FM. Usually when you buy a radio it will come with a receiver, and most of them have a servo or two included.

Here is a link to all the FM pistol radios tower has.

I have a Hitec FM radio, but Tower doesn't carry it. They only carry the AM model. I haven't gotten to try it out yet as it has been raining every day since I installed it.

If you are going to go with FM, I wouldn't pick the cheapest thing you can find. Especially since you said:
i like to go to tracks, but the am frequencies are always taken up.
You might want to look into the JR XS3. It's more expensive, but it's synthesized. Which means out of the box, if you get the 75 MHz version, you'll have 30 channels available to you. That should eliminate your frequency problem at the track. I've got one, and put a small review up on my site. You'll find it here.

It may seem more expensive, but once you start weighing some of the benefits, it starts to make a lot more sense than a cheap FM radio.

I bought mine from my LHS. If memory serves me right, I gave around $210 for it at the LHS. Horizon carries it for $239.00 which is retail.

I went home for lunch today and double checked my receipt. I verified what I said above, $209.95 (+tax of course). My memory is sometimes better than I give it credit for.

Do you mean install??? If so, it's no harder than any other aftermarket radio. Install the receiver, plug up the servos, fiddle with your radio settings to adjust them to your preference. The synthesized part of the radio really doesn't add any significant setup step.

Thanks for the quick response...By implement I mean install...I do computer stuff all day long, and we use the term implement instead of install.

    Thanks,

    Shane

I can identify with that thought, just never heard it used in the manner you used it. I'll think I'll go home and rollout a frequency change.

wowee...that radio sounds really really good, but i dont think that i am willing to pay for all that computer stuff. The 30 channel thing is cool. If it didnt come with the computer stuff and the two extra servos, i would get it. It is a bit out of my price range.

i'll spend 200$ on RD racign stuff before a radio.

Not to single you out, but that philosophy always strikes me as strange. No one seems to mind spending big bucks on hop-ups, but they want to go cheap on the radio. I guess it's just because they don't see a performance improvement with the radio equipment.

As for me, I just never saw the point in trusting a $50 radio to control a truck that had $500+ in it. Everybody has opinions though, and that's just mine.
