    Frankenstinger

Has anybody ever put a motor with a stinger armature in their 4-tec. I know people have put them in rustlers and stampede's. I already have A motor like that, but I was wondering how they did in 4-tecs.

    Sorry for the rambling post.

How does that work? DO you disassemble the motor can and swap the armature into a better one?

Yeah you just take the stinger armateur out and put it in a good one like you said. I put mine in a p2k2 pro can.

How does it run in other cars? I always thought it was a pretty stong motor for what it was.

What do you mean, all you need is a stinger armature, and some motor can. I had to use a dremel to open the stinger can though.

I used a pair of tin snips to get mine out. I put the arm in a 13x3 SG can and wow was that thing cool. I had mine in a srt. I did not have a 4-tec at that time.

I bend the tabs back on the endbell...lay the stinger on cement and give it one good pop with a hammer towards the end bell side ...the end bell usually pops right open...I put mine in a SG pro Amber can...batteries last longer and my Stampede was popping standing start wheelies geared 15/87...now it's in my boat and performs quite well

This sounds like a cool idea. I wouldn't mind trying it with my D5. I wonder how it would run?

I think the real difference will be in the magnets and brushes the donor can uses, like a stronger magnet which I think is the big difference and maybe a P-94 endbell with the larger brushes. I would be interested in seeing what a 24 degree, rebuildable, stock can and endbell would do for it though.

I was thinking, what if you took just the arm with out the wire and wrapped some, say, flatliner wire around it and made it into like a 10 turn or something. Or even use the same wire, but make it stock. That would have some interesting results. It would really be a "modified" motor.

That has already been tried, and the motor ussually gets destroyed because the wire comes off.

Oh, ok. I guess I could see how that could be a problem. But it would be interesting if you could do it and have it work. You would just need to know what you were doing.
