Go ahead, we'll laugh at your failure....
pretty much a waste of time. a fan that would move enough air woud be to big and bulky. you should get enough airflow under the body while it's rolling. (try drilling a big hole in the windshield with a hole saw like i did.)

actually I made a little fan unit that mounted in front of the xl1 and put a switch in the back powered by a9v battery and it kept it cool. I did this because I raced it and it would get super hot.
whoo back in action....It's been too long.
I was thinking of doing the same for my XL-1.Originally posted by ohiotrickpede

I've got several small fans meant for Pentium heatsinks that would be a perfect size. i was thinking of splicing it into the main battery harness, but the fans are designed for 12 volts - so I'm not sure they would cool effectively when run on 7.2 volts. But I guess any extra cooling will help the XL-1, especially running a 17T motor.
Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
where exactly do u mount the fan?
thanx

I made a harness for the fan as well after I lost the battery jumping. I had it connected to the ecs plug so when I plugged in the battery I would not have power until I flipped the switch. It will run fine on 7.2v.
Also mount the fan how ever you want I made a aluminuim mount and screwed it to the chassis where the msc mount goes.
