it aint a great white look at the fin on it a great white`s fin dont have that wierd sharp bend on it its more of a smooth long on,
its a biggish shark but rember water distorts stuff and makes it look twice the size it really is. it would be freaky seeing it at the time but i dont think sharks come that close into the breakers espcally great whites, most probs like a basking shark or sumin.

That's not me in the pic just my worst fear on film. Don't know what kinda shark thatt is or even if it's a real photo. I've seen sharks while surfing in three feet of water 5 or 6 feet from me! Nothing that big though. I've seen dolphins ride in waves many times. I tend to think that is a Great White shark and a real photo. I just posted the pic cause I couldn't imagine being that dude. I'd have to buy a new wetsuit.

if u compare the surfing pic with the diagram look at the dorsal?? fin and its completly different the surf pic is really pointy n stuff spose it would be a bit freaky.. but what i was reading was that due to global warmiing `man eating` sharks are making apearnces in the uk and stuff coz its getting hotter and stuff

look at the tail fins. The one in the pic with the surfer is horizontal and the great white is vertical. Looks kinda like a dolphin but i dont know never been near an ocean

That actually looks like a clip from "Real TV" they had a crew out in the water filming the surfing comp, and there were about 15 sharks in the breaking waves.

I'm sure that's your worst nightmare as a surfer, but i'm 90% sure that's a doctored picture (i've seen it somewhere before).

Here's the explanation behind the picture.....it's actually a Doctored Dolphin.

Illusion #1) Surfer is swimming towards the "shark", so it's really hard to get a good estimate of how far apart the two actually are, much less a size comparison.

Illusion #2) Whatever is in that wave, isn't very close to the surface, or you'd be able to see what it is. It is however backlit enough to tell "something" is there, but the shadow is on a convex wave surface.....making it appear longer than it actually is. Distance would only make the shadow longer in length. Here's a good picture to compare to of a Dolphin close to the surface:



Illusion #3) The tail of the shark should be about as clear as the Dorsal Fin (since shark tails are vertical, not Horizontal like Dolphins). With it being backlit...the Tail should be MUCH darker than it appears. Since the tail is lighter, that tells me that it's not casting much of a vertical shadow on the wave.

well there is but they are expensive programs...i couldnt even label one..but u can take a screen shot, then doctor the photo.
