which glo-starter do you think i should get. Also what does the "mah" in the size of the batt. do, does it last longer or does it have more glowing power.I really looking at getting either the super hot shot 2, hot shot 2, hot shot, duratrax thing, etc.
The higher the mah the longer the battery will last.
Does that mean if i get the 5000mah it will last like 3 times longer than a 1500mah. also how many semi hard starts will the 1500 and the 5000 last
I use a great plains glow starter with the metering cap (long). It allows you to replace the battery, when it goes dead. What I do, is use 2, 1800mah Panasonic sub C's (one in the starter, and one in my track box) Oh, make sure their both charged befor you go out. Hope this helps.
there is no 5000 and if there was it would cost ya alot of $

the super hot shot 2 has a 5000mah batt. anda 1.2 volt charger.The super hot shot has a 4000mah batt. with a 2.20 volt batt.
On the contrary...
I have read that the mah doesnt mean it will last longer the bigger the number is. What it means is that it will discharge more within a certain amount of time interval...thus actually making your battery lose charge faster the larger your mah is.
In other words I mean a 2300mah battery will put out more/sec compared to a 1500mah but the 2300mah battery will run out first.
I am certain that I am correct...if not nitro chicken can teach us something!
i use the Hot Shot 2 it is a great glow starter i would go with this
and always use the McCoy 59
use the best for your car and engine
Hey guys, this is a link to our FAQ section where mAh is covered for electric cars. mAh works the same way for the re-chargeable batteries in your glow igniters
Back up till glass breaks, then gun it!
How do you get that a 2300 mAh battery will go dead before a 1500 mAh?
A quick little battery lesson for you.
Power a light bulb that Draws 1 mAh (micro amps hours) in other words micro amps per hour.
Now you hook that bulb to a 1500 mAh battery. It will burn the bulb for 1500 hours.
Connect the same bulb to a 2300 mAh and it will burn for 2300 hours.
My 1400 mAh batteries will not run my truck longer than my 2400 mAh batteries will. If they are suppose to like you say then something is wrong with my 2400 batteries. Beacause for some reason they will give me three times longer run times.
excuse me while I pass some gas
I apologize les...it seems i've read some bad literature on the web. But thanks to nitro chicken we are all educated now without doubt.
Oh yeah a little quick lesson for you...
mAh = Milli-Amp Hours not (Micro-Amp Hours)
milli is 10E-3 and micro is 10E-6....so as a matter of fact we were both wrong about something...you were off at about 3 decimal places...that's alot!
At work we use
MIcro = millions
HIcro = hundred thousands
TIcro = thousands
If some one says 6hi we know that they mean 600,000.
Dont ask for it can get confusing very quickly..LOL
excuse me while I pass some gas
That's ok....we all make mistakes
OK! Let me set the record straight...my post above had an typo in it and its bothering me...being an Engineering student it should of been right the first time. But I do have a valid reason why I was off by one decimal place...I previously wrote:
"milli is 10E-3 and micro is 10E-6..."
if you put a decimal between the 1 and 0 for the 10 in front then i would be right...
Why I wrote it wrong in the first place? I was going to write 10^-3 and 10^-6 for milli and micro respectively...but it looked ugly on my browser's font...so quickly deleted 'till i got to the zero on the 10 and just added the E-3 and E-6....with what I have above in quotations it would actually be 10X10^-3 for milli and 10X10^-6 for micro ( the "E-3" means, times ten to the minus 3 already...).
That is way off...I just wanted to clarify that so someone doing a search on the net for such things wouldn't find incorrect information just as how I did when i looked up the battery stuff...
Just had to get that off my chest! Sorry for blabbing!
Why not just skip the rechargables and get a starter that takes a alkaline c-cell battery.
