Have problem with Nitro Sport

I just bought a nitro sport from a friend pretty cheap. But it don't start when i try to start it with ez start. The starter thang smokes and it won't even crank over can that be fixed buy me? or should i buy a new 1 and what is that piece called?

Speaking from experience this may be your problem. The connector rod in the engine has broken. That only cost $13.50 and about 20 minutes to fix. However, when the rod breaks it more than likely scars the piston and sleeve. They run about $40, but can be fixed also within that 20 minute window. If that is the case, you'd be better off taking advantage of Traxxas' engine exchange program.

It says it is $60 + $5, but when I called last week they said it is $75. You send them the old engine and they send you a new (and better) Pro .15 engine.

Hopefully your "friend" gave you the manuals, so you will know how to take it apart, but even it not, there is enough info on this site, combined with the free phone support to walk you through it. Another option will be to take it to the local hobby store, if they belong to the support program, they may take it apart and either trade you up to the Pro .15 or at least send in your old one. It'll take about 2 weeks turn around.

Your engine is flooded:
1.Take out your glow plug
2.connect ez-start
3.turn truck upside down so the head is facing towards the ground
4.Turn engine over for about 10sec
5. Put the glow plug back in and try to start it

If the engine is siezed get some after run and put some on the piston
let it sit for about 1 day and try to free it

or you can,if its flooded,try to start it several times to burn up the flooding fuel,works for me

No it's the part in front of the engine that says ez start(ya sorry i'm a newbie) when i try to start it smoke comes out of this piece, it's not hydrolocked i alread checked for that.

Is the smoke is coming out of the silver cylinder that just behind where the black and red wires hook up? If so read my earlier post. That is EXACTLY the problem I was having.

Take your starter off and take the case apart and see if there is any gears that are chewed up. If so replace them.

Okay i got the ez starter off and the motor out of it. But how do u get the motor case off? and is there any websites that sell r/c stuff most of the stuff here are on backorder. and there is no r/c shops within 2hr drive

That url shows how to rebuild the motor for the actual truck. I have a problem with the ez start motor that is located in front of the motor. I took out the motor and tried to see if it will start but it won't.

The starter is probably shot. I had a problem once where the shafts that hold the gears in place inside the gear box would become lose and jam the gears. It burned up one of my starters. To look inside the gear box just take the screws out of the back of it and take the starter off.

okay 1 of you might have been right not for sure yet. But i got the engine off and just tested to see if it worked and it does. I found out that it's something in the Ez Start black thing that holds the motor it's the thing that turns the motor to start it.

seems to be that the bottom gear are burned together or something they won't move at all. Thanks a lot for helping me out all save.
