Kid's tore up the MERV shell - not enough shoo-goo to hold the shoo-goo together anymore, so I slapped this together:

I used a flat piece of Al. sheet folded over to fit...
Add me to the list that Lipo has smoked the cl-2.5. I upgraded to a Xl-5 with the built in lvc.

whoops = double post
Jimmie - just wanted to throw it out there, and so the OP doesn't have an additional surprise, but after never having problems with the XL 2.5 on Nimh's, as soon as I tried a Lipo in it, it fried. ...
Mini-revo axles, RPM a-arms, GPM Al. steering knuckles, all to replace the weak stockers for better durability. (haven't had any of these break in a few months now).
The best performance upgrade...
FWIW, I had to use 5 or 6 shims to get my diff. tight. It wasn't new, and has held up well since last summer.
Is that a countersunk head? Only place I recall for that is on the servo-saver.
What are you telling tech support to get them to replace the servo? I called and they told me "don't turn all the way"....not too impressed, since the other time I called, TS told me not to run two...
Like Jimmie said, pick up a decent iron, shouldn't be more than $50 and practice on a bunch of the little crimp end spade connectors that you can buy at any auto parts store until you get the hang of...
Run times are a LOT different between Lipo and Nimh.....Typically, at least doubling.
Thanks Jimmie, this is what I was hoping for.
Not too worried about the weight as these are so light, mainly since this is my yard-apes, he bashes with it, gets muddy, wet etc., and pulling...
Not really sure which forum this be in, but since this is in a MERV, I’ll post it here……
I posted earlier about putting an XL-5 esc/Titan 550 combo in 1/16 so I could run Lipo’s. Well I’ve got it...
Well the LHS had an XL-5 in stock for $55. Ran it for about 30 minutes before I busted a knuckle. I think this will work out prety good. The XL-5 is a little bit bigger than the XL-2, so I made a...
Yep, got a brushless set for the summit and swapped the 550 it came with into a merv roller.....
The ESC is rated for up to 2C, so I think I'm good there. What do ya'll think of runtimes? Are the brushless motors that much more efficient than the brushed where you get almost a 200% gain when...
How do ya'll think this combo would work? My son's got a Titan 550 & XL 2.5esc, and is actually happy with speed that he gets running two Nimh's in parallel (so am I, since a little less speed means...
Double no-go on the Krylon Fusion, anywhere that flexes on the body, it just "separates" and loses the adhesion to the base plastic and the chips right off.
We must've got a set made on Monday, my kids Summit took four also.....
Even after I screwed up paypal. Everything was just like he said, packed good and arrived early! Thanks trx_3.3_god!!
THanks for the explanation, I was thinking about the battery tender on my trailer (charges both deep cycle 12V independently off the inverter).
Think you might have those mixed up? If you use the parallel connector, each battery will be charged individually, the series connector is a doubler.
Text sent.....
