Who knows? Maybe Traxxas is working on a shaft drive 4 Tec rally right now?
But rally is getting some attention though. Tamiya's rally kit has seen some good sales and I would like to see a rally...
Actually, there are a lot of improvements needed.
Adding to your list:
No belt drive (unless there is a good tensioner)
Better ball diffs
More battery space
New motor and battery locations...
Don't get either. The 4 Tec's weight distribution is pretty bad for drifting and having a very powerful brushless is going to make the car very twitchy going around the track. I'm not saying you...
Just keep in mind that Group B was back in the 1980s. I think Travis was about 2 or 3 years old at the time.
I love the Group B era. The Audi Quattro, Lancia 037, Delta S4... *drools*
Hmmm, that's actually a good question. I guess I can say I chose a Bandit because I liked the look. I prefer the buggy rather then a truck.
Plus, waaaaay back when I didn't know there were hobby...
A boat that can be driven off road? It will be the R/C to end all R/Cs! :D
Realistically, I'm voting for this.
Every time I go to my LHS I see a new line of nitro monster trucks on the repair counter. *sigh* I guess if those people have the money to pay someone else to repair their R/C...
I on the other...
I'm not sure if this works on all 3.3 diffs but it did on mine. Open the diff case and put a 2-3mm thick plastic washer in between the two output shafts. They should be misaligned with the other...
If you are planning on drifting the 4 Tec, locking the rear is a great idea. It makes kicking out the rear a lot easier.
I've used two methods of locking a 4 Tec stock diff. One, is to thread a...
Honestly, the "rally" conversion is not worth it. The width doesn't even get near 200mm.(I guess in your case thats a good thing) 190mm bodies are more flush with the conversion. The ground clearance...
Here is an old picture I have of my 96 Civic with my 4 Tec. It gets great mileage for a 13 year old car.

If I had a penny for every time that happened to me...
The best solution for that problem is to get the aluminum carriers. The screws thread directly into the aluminum so nothing can get stripped....
If your 4 Tec is too low, try different shock mounting positions. Or consider doing the Rally (200mm) conversion.
For more speed, you can try different gears. Big pinion and small spur are a...
I got a few of these. (in no particular order)
-Drilling body mount holes in a new body.
-Cutting decals.
-Putting brand new drift tires on rims.
-E-Clips
-Dropping a screw or some other...
Here are some pictures of my late full hop up option drift 4 Tec. I sold it recently and I kinda wish I didn't... :(
Beat up Body
Body Off
Body Off 2
Lets see... so far its this:
1/16 Stampedes\Rustlers - 3
New 4 Tec - 14 (I added my vote here)
1/5 scale - 6
Dune Buggy - 1
Trailer Hitch - 5
1/8 scale - 5
Crawler - 3
Blimp - 1
When you are drifting, don't worry about top speed. Its all about style going through the turns. ;)
I don't have an exact pinion/spur combo that always works, but gear it so there is more...
There is a even more simple way of locking a Nitro diff. Just take the diff apart and put a small plastic spacer in between the two output shafts of the diff.
If you can, go LiPo. Since LiPos are...
Good idea. Lets bother Traxxas enough so they eventually make one! :D
Wow, lots of Cali people here on the Traxxas site... :p
I'm in San Jose.
You need drift tires to drift. Which ones depends on how much you are willing to spend. Here are the some common ones:
ABS/PVC pipe: Cheap, can make it yourself, easy to install/remove. Not much...
Lets try to keep at least one "Make this Traxxas..." thread on topic. :)
Anyway, I'll hop on the bandwagon that wants a new 4 Tec but there might be a problem. I'm sure Traxxas has thought or...
 Sorry, but I don't plan on selling it. I like it too much.
Besides, I need it for a drift competition coming up.
The 15T motor will fit in a 4 Tec. The speed controls don't have any specs listed so I don't know it they can handle the 15T motor...
If you want the LEDs to look their best, I suggest getting a...
