i replaced my piston and sleeve last year and if I remember correctly, the cutout on the piston faces the carb, hope that helps

way back when, i broke the spring inside the clutch bell, check that just incase as there a multitude of reasons a car will only stay on at full throttle like a reversed piston 0-o

also, the jato 3.3 is insanely fast so be careful with it and play with it in an open area where nobody or nothing is around to prevent injury, 60mph to ancle means ouch to car and whoever it hits
