Purty trucks like that are NOT "bush" trucks. :)
For a first vehicle.....that might be the worst choice. Expensive, top heavy, and a bunch of "custom" parts aren't always a good thing, imo.

I have been running with the same setup on two cars for awhile now. No tranny problems here.......stock trans, too.
FLM is probably the best aluminum transmission out there. Most expensive...
Wear a mask....
I use a cut off wheel and it works well.

They can call Traxxas if there are issues/problems.
I have been to legitimate hobby shops that are worse than what you describe. They don't know the answer and feed a line of bs. Much worse...
Where do you get them online?

Aluminum caster blocks.....yes. Aluminum transmission.......not really a necessity.
I have ran the VXL, Castle 5700, 4600, and now the 4-pole 3800 motors and have not upgraded the transmission. ...
I have PL Mohawks up front to go with my sand paws.
Be sure you get 2.2/3.0 rims to go with them.

Is the hex on the inside of the rim stripped out? Or the hex on the axle?

I use Badlands on rear and Gladiators on front.
The gladiators are still going strong after well over a year. Been through 2 sets of rear tires in that time.

The higher the "C" rating the more power it can provide continuously.

An ESC fan won't help with high motor temps.
An aluminum tranny is the best way to keep motor temps down. I"d say it is almost a necessity with a motor that has a higher KV.
Velcro!!
How are you gonna gear it? That motor Kv is awfully high for a Rustler, imo. I had a tough time with 5700Kv.
