Lol yep, i use old 2.5 non r's. They do have some 3.3 for 84 on ebay if you want to keep the broken one. Look for the buy it now ones, cant remember name of seller.
Breaking pistons too.... i will keep my comments to myself.... sorry man, hope it didnt trash the whole engine.
Locked up? Hydro locked, or as in broken part locked up?
You were at the end of a tank of fuel?? Take carb off and clean, might have some "trash" in it, unless you run a fuel filter. Just a thought.
Yes, sorta..... it should have 2 spring washers, facing each other so when tightened they provide force back. To set tighten all the way down, then back off 1/4 turn or so.
You can get a tranny with brake disc, and slipper already on it on ebay.... save you some $$$ i got a few for around $20.
Parts for the 15 on ebay seems to go in cycles. Havent seen much on there for awhile. There are a few complete engines that you can get for cheap, normally not much competition on bidding.
Sent you a pm.
Yes, as long as smoke was good..... now tune in the lsn.

Easier to go by sound, and smoke signs than head temps once you know what to look and listen for.
Depends on outside temp if checking head temp..... i have an exhaust temp senser from an old boat i had to keep mine in the safe range, and have had mine anywhere from 250-350* on head temp range....
And just to clear up any confusion, it wasn't just a cast piston, it was forged, so it it more durable and preferred in engines that are prone to detonation. And yes where i work is fully capable of...
Its funny how it is always easy to say it is self inflicted. I know without a doubt it is NOT always that way. Honestly take a look on this forum and look how many pistons have came apart. My opinion...
Again, the stock settings mean nothing but a starting point.... if yours needs to be at 3 turns to start put it at 3. Again, watch your temps and tune the darn thing. Every engine is different, and...
If you have stock servos or compatible brands there shouldnt be issues with plugs if that is the concern. Do a search on here, or online will verify.
If you already have everything, put it in and see....
All i will say is, i can run it leaner and about 20* hotter on head temp, and a few 100* on exhaust. Not posting pics yet on current design as i am not sure if or when i will sell. Tons of hp can be...
Yep, runs awesome. No, make that 100% better.
If its running good, i wouldnt worry about it..... what kind of fuel?

Yes lsn is set to flush.... then tune both needles as needed.....
2.5 turns is just a baseline setting for breaking it in. It is ok to go more if needed, just watch your temps.
Same engine, just ported, and rod is knifed, also has some crank work done, but all the same parts.
Just started my 15turbo, its 73* here with 30% humidity and dew point is 41* so its pretty dry. Hsn is right at 2 lsn is 1 in from flush. depending on weather adjust from there.
