    the binding is the gears themselves they aren't machined perfectly they are pressure pressed to make the main shape than tooled down to the shape and specs but not every vally in the gears are exact...

    I've had the same problem main reason i see is the waterproofing that traxxas uses in the esc holds in heat and the black coating on the heat sink also holds in heat aftermarket esc is best way to go
