I would say proper gearing. This will increase performance and reduce wear and heat on the drivetrain.

Great post, thanks for putting it up. I think I am going to put GTR shocks and longer springs on my upgrade path.

Just remember the brushed MERV comes with an AM radio, while the BL MERV comes standard with a 2.4 GHz radio. I think for the extra $100 or so makes the BL MERV the better value.
