Yes on SPC batteries. If you go 3S you will need to change a few things. Drop down in gearing. Fan on esc and motor. Drive train will need to be upgrade too... But darn fast I say! I still prefer 2S....

Hard to say. If you had aluminum castor blocks, doesn't mean the break would transfer to a different area. Possible yes. But I have found the stock castor blocks to be the weakest point of the truck....

I would go Stampede.. Best all purpose basher IMO!
You could get a new XL-5 for $200 or new VXL for about $300
But I have seen VXL models go for about $200 used.

I would say a 2wd Stampede would be a good match. Very bashable, fast and shares many of the same parts as the Rustler.

The S600 motor is what I put in XL-5's. They seem to last a lot longer.

Well, I pulled off my 2wd Relux with Mashers..and put them on my 4wd. It does not rub... But its really close.

Do you get to drive them at the same time.. Or would you be able to drive all three?
I'm kinda in the same boat. I have three. Normally just drive one, when some one is over, I give out my extra....

That's why when running in a public area, I always bring old RC Car Action mags to give to people watching or even Traxxas brochures to hand out. Wonder if Traxxas would mail me a stack?

I have seen vxl Stampede go as low as $150... ( am radio) .. avg $180-200. But seen a few go $250+. I picked up both a vxl and xl-5 for $240 total local. But not as clean as your truck.
