H20 if you go with 900mhz you be ok with the spektrum. I've used it many time with my dx7. Range is not as good as 72/75mhz thats why most poeple switch over.72/75 are better on the ground then 2.4 ....

Drill a lot of holes in it to lose wieght then find some thin plastic and cover the front.
Better yet make two square holes one on each side (should look like a figure 8 but with square corners)...
