You still have this truck?
Hey. That truck looks familiar :-)

Not sure if they even make a 12t pinion but based on my gearing spreadsheet - with the diameter of the Talon tires - you'd need to have it geared 12/52 or 12/54 to keep somewhat the same ratio as...
Nice. Be sure to post pics in the Slash 4x4 monster thread also.
Welcome to the forums. Nice truck. Looks familiar :-)
Yeah, that's why I was asking him. I thought about going with the Sidewinder but mine being a 4x4 MT, would definitely be pushing it even though the truck only weighs 6.2 pounds.
Retracted statement.
Sidewinder SCT? How are temps on the ESC?
I wouldn't trade my VXL system even if I were able to. Why would I give them my VXL system AND pay $250? I can keep my VXL system and buy the Caslte motor and Mamba ESC seperately for less than...
Just google the Thunder AC6 charger. I'm very pleased with that one - and for under 60 shipped including a charging sack.
GPS phone apps can be dodgy also. I was using one for my speed runs so I decided to use it in my car to test the accuracy of it. I found that due to the high rate of pings and best accuracy of...
On the heels of my Slash 4x4 MT project being done and after posting pics in the MT tread, I thought I'd post a little of my findings with running the stock motor/ESC system, the bigger, heavier...
I'd be remiss in not mentioning that I got my inspiration from Allalluminum on page 21 of this thread. I'm a little biased but the look of the Slash 4x4 on Jatos and 2.8 Trenchers is hard to beat...
That's probably your best bet. A lot of folks freak out about gearing, temps, etc when they don't really know their true temps. Run it on stock everything, get some readings and go from there. ...
IMO there's a fine line of running a fan to 'keep it cooler' and a fan disguising a problem. It shouldn't run hot, all things being equal. However, it's hard not to run a little hot when ambient...
Manual says keep the motor below 200 degrees.
Just keep it geared correctly. Start with stock gearing. If temps are low then you're good to gear up. If they are high, gear down.
You really...
Depends on ambient temps. Mine took over half an hour to cool down yesterday due to it being 106 with the heat index and 97 in my garage.
There's one of your problems. You don't drop the spur to gear down and try to cool the motor down. You would raise the spur and/or drop the pinion. So you're:
1. Running in 100 degree weather...
Got the Ford Raptor SVT body in and painted it Fiery Orange. This is the second time I've painted a body. Came out OK... Really pleased with the truck as it came out just as I envisioned it.
...
Gotcha. How much did you account for in ballooning just so I can check my gearing/speed model? When I put in 5.9" it yields a speed of 40.1. That would be a total increase of 1" in diameter.
So I got my temp guage today. ran it on 11/54 gearing with 2s and vxl system. Motor topped out at 128, esc at 108, and battery at 85. This was a mixture of offroad including gravel, big rocks,...
Thanks, asheck. My gut is leaning toward this Sidewinder SCT combo since I tend to run on the conservative side. Plus my truck is still under 6.5lbs. I just want to keep decent temps and run a...
I've never seen the amps capable of the Sidewinder published but it's got to be more than 80A. The 3800kv motor is good for 800 watts and with just an 8.4v battery, it would yield 95A.
So I'm thinking about getting the 3800 SCT combo. I'm using my Slash 4x4 as an MT though with 4.87" Trencher tires. Is the combo ESC up to the task? I've estimated the weight of my truck at about...
There's no surprise that you're thermalling. 13/50 is very high. It should really only be geared that high on the stock system for speed runs doing only a couple passes, hence the reason your only...
