The 2.5 and 2.5r have the same porting now from what I hear, but the 2.5r has the powercool cooling head, which looks better and provides better cooling, which means you can tune a little bit more...

I also have the proball and a set of extended steel CVDs, and steel ball bearings in my steel slipper clutch to prevent anything from melting...I run a pretty tight slipper...

My NR hit 55+ with a 20/72 gearing....Don't remember the tires but I did it no doubt :D

I've seen people use Maxx shafts that are cut down to length on their rustlers, but I don't know anything about that conversion...I run FLM electric rustler CVDs on my Nrustler and so far they work...

It could have also started as a 305 and gotten bored out to a 350...

Try looking for a serial/model number stamped on the block some where....
I don't know about parts, but from what I've heard the 305 and 350 are the same block, just the 350 is bored out more...
