sometimes when bashing in high or wet grass the dirt hawgs spin a lot, but when you get going it's very fast with the taller tires!
tower hobbies for the rims and LHS for the tires
I have the Dirt Hawg tires on Traxxas 7171 rims, and I geared 19/55 to get my acceleration back to where I want it!!
you have a great setup, enjoy!!!
had great luck with reps, and I'm getting two escs replaced now....
If you are afraid of breaking the chassis, buy a t-bones full underbody brace kit with front and rear bumpers. This thing supports the whole chassis and provided weight down low to help stabilize...
they are about 30 bucks from t bones... or a little more from the toyz... and worth the money IMO.
X 2 on this option, didn't even think of it!!!
Looks really good for what you want to do with it, but I'm an opportunity basher and geared for grass/off road!
I have the same tire/wheel setup (traxxas 7171 & pro line dirthawgs) and geared my MERV at 19/55, and have plenty of snappy acceleration.
might go that route later when I go lipo power, but for now with NiMH, I'm happy with this setup!!!
I have one in route to traxxas for replacement now... but I'll take better care of the next one....not really, I'll still drive the crud out of it!!! I'm curious if there is a revised ESC that is...
+ 1 on the RPM arms, and look at a t-bone brace or bumpers while your at it. Cheap insurance for the chassis! Bite the bullet and get the brushless with the 2.4 gig transmitter/receiver, saves you...
did that too, continue to run till it breaks after I backed out the screw
thanks for all of the responses. It seems that the extended run time VS NiMH packs may be worth it, plus the power potential vs. weight in the battery.
I am currently running 1600 mh NiMH battery packs in my MERV. I am considering Lipo power, but have heard horror stories about that battery system, not tom mention cost of conversion with new...
no worries, hope you get your parts soon!!!
try attaching a piece of black plastic or nylon to the front bumper holes of the t bone that is full width of the car... may help with bashing trash cans!!!!
Geared my MERV at 19/55 to compensate for the weight of the T bone brace and got my acceleration back. Good luck getting your car back together!!!
try it again with the t bones brace.
MERV looks great, how's it running???
that would be yes... the MERV is less than 45 days old!
sorry you had that experience, but I have the GPM knuckles, and have nothing but good stuff to say about them. I have wrecked my MERV to the point it wants a stunt double, and no more explosive...
save money for parts and hop ups... you will love it!!!
