has anyone done this? how to fix?

ok so the front bumper mount and rear mount screws keep breaking off and bending, how can i fix this?

i am really lucky that it didnt shear off flush with the bulkhead brace then i wouldn't be able to get it out. are there more heavy duty screws that i can buy? im just trying the fix the little things while i wait for my new esc.

do you think if i do all aluminum braces and bulkheads and mounts they will still bend?

I use the RPM bumpers but prefer the original bumper mounts. Fortunately, I've never had a screw break off.

when i took my old tmaxx 2.5 i bought used apart and these same screws were bent all out of shape.

Look into getting a screw set from Tonyscrewz.com. Beat screws out there, put's the stock ones to shame.

Every time I take my truck apart, I also find bent screws. I think it's not so bad, because if not for that, something else would be breaking. Better to bend a few screws than break the bulkheads or something harder to get at.

very true maxxx i never thought of it like that, but i got flm bulkheads, front and rear on the way so im not gonna break those again.

Check both of my t maxxes and my new e maxx. All of them have bent screws

i wonder if you can get titanium screws for in there?!?

I would think titanium would be stronger but more brittle and would probably snap off in there with a good hard hit!

Mine are also bent.

I don't really worry about it. If you go aluminium you have to consider where the force of any impact is going to go. With plastic in there, it'll absorb some of the impact (hence why the screws are bending) as the plastic flexes when it takes a hit. With aluminium it won't bend. If it's strong enough then you won't bend the screw but you do run the risk of just forcing the impact along the line to something else.

I'm going to be doing a big upgrade soon and I plan on leaving those braces plastic for that very reason.

i was thinking about puting just the rpm ones that i have back on there since i didn't order aluminum diff braces, for that same reason. i am gonna stick with these screws, does anyone know the part number for those bumper screws i posted a picture of? they show different ones on the exploded view than what i posted the picture of above. can someone check for me but i believe they are 3x24mm but im not quite sure.

3x25 according to the exploded view.

Maybe try a T Bone front skid?

I hate the look of the t bone but they do work pretty good!

when i was looking at the tbone rear bumper installed on their truck, the bumper mount on the truck was still installed so there is still a chance of bending these screws, plus i have rpm wear skids so they wont fit with them installed.

I left the original bumper mounts on to hold the roll cage in place. I took off both front and real RPM skid plates to use the T-Bones but left the center RPM skid in place.

i actually got a little bit thicker and still fit screws from the hobby shop, that i think will hold up a little bit better than the other ones in the picture above.
