if it is really bad you could just remove the electronics and wash the rest with a hose and then use a towel to clean the electronics themselves
Yep. Mud pretty much only comes off with water!
Watch the water getting into the wheels
just try not to get too much water in the bearings
Ok thanks. I know it was kind of a dumb question but was just looking for the fastest and easiest way to go about it
I like to remove the electronics, spray the whole thing with degreaser, give it a good brush in the sink with tons of water, then clean, and oil the bearings.
Just pull the electronics off then hose it down.
And when your bearings do give it up from the mud intrusion don't get ripped off at the LHS for them, get the at AvidRC.com, most are $1 each & at those prices I keep an extra set of bearings in my box.
Great thanks for the info. I was wondering about what to do when it's time to replace the bearings which I think is now. I've had my max almost 2 years and haven't done anything to it except replace broken parts
Thanks for the info. Sounds good

I noticed that the ceramic metal bearings cost $5 vs the metal only bearings for 1$. Is it worth buying the the ceramic bearings?
If you are going to get ceramics I would get boca yellow seals
More of a I ran out of things to upgrade and want to spend some money!

I have not bothered with the ceramic bearings, @$5 a pop that's 5 regular bearings I can buy, & just don't see them having a major advantage to the steel bearings for a basher & the steel bearings have held up very well for me so far.
Maybe if I was a racer or looking for ultimate speed runs where every bit of friction reduction helps I could see using ceramics throughout but not for just bashing.
Ceramic engine bearings I could see doing but not for the rest of the trucks bearings.
My truck took a great mud bath a few weeks ago. The mud was caked on so bad I had to take it completely apart. I usually soak what I can in a bucket and check the bearings while I'm at it. The last of my stock bearings finally ceased up. I planned ahead and bought Avid bearings for the axle carriers. I just went with the half sealed / rubber Avid bearings.
Mud sticks pretty good! I try to avoid it whenever I can
I hose down if really muddy and then lube after with the likes of RP7 or WD40.
