Hey everyone,
i hate that my first post is in this direction, but i just got a slash ultimate 4 by 4 and something is wrong
i charged up the battery, followed all the manuel directions and gave it ago
the car is stuttering if i dont give it full throttle....it just shakes like crazy, fwd and back...
if i give it full throttle it sometimes works but sometimes nothing happens
i have literally only used the car for 3-4 minutes......please help

whats cogging?
Are you in the same place every time? cogging is something interfering between the transmitter to the receiver.
Try moving to a different spot. If you've done that? get your manual,and rebind your transmitter to your receiver.
You said 4wd,so it must be 2.4,I don't thing they sell a 4wd with a am radio receiver.
Do you know how to bind them?
cogging has noting to do with the esc and motor unless your top speed is slow
coging is the miscomunication between the esc and the motor
(either the esc switches to fast and cant make the motor do a revolution or does not supply enought voltage to make the motor spin into the next cycle there is more to this then i know)
to reset the bind between the transmitter and reciver is to turn on the esc well pressing the set button on the esc (should blink red) and then turn on the transmitter well holding either one button(not sure witch button it is but is in the last couple pages of the manual)
then both should turn green then it is re set
but throttle is a diffrent story (in the manual)
turn on the transmitter and then turn on the esc hold the esc's button(again i dont know how long in the manual)
first blink full throttle second blink full break esc blink a couple of times then is set
but why does this happen only when the car is on the ground, and not when i pick it up in the air.....
It's like the battery isn't supplying the power.
I do NOT think this is what's happening.

yeah but fresh out of the box the product should work....my brother bought one too, no issues

The problem seems to be with power getting to the ESC. Either the battery has been damaged or the ESC is faulty. What happens if you try your brother's battery or he tries yours?
You are correct - everything should work fresh out of the box. BUT, if it doesn't, at least you have world-class customer support to make things right.
Sorry RED,That's what i was trying to say,but' that has happened to me before and after rebinding it went away.And if the receiver is getting faulty or incomplete info from the transmitter,it can in-turn send the motor bad,or incorrect timing singles. hold esc but-en, one red flash,release pull transmitter to full throttle, two flashes push to full reverse,three flashes return to neutral.
esc should be set to sport mod,100%forward,100%brakes,100%reverse.

Calibration:
Tx on > ESC on and hold button until green then red LED comes on > Release button > Red LED blinks once > hold full forward > red LED blinks twice > hold full reverse > green LED blinks once > calibration finished.
The problem could be the motor too, I suppose. I don't think it is the calibration, but I listed the correct procedure above.
If the other truck is available, you have the perfect tools and parts to diagnose the problem.

i had that with a bad battery done the same thing swapped batteries and fix it i would try your brothers battery first
i would try all that then another controller...calibration issue maybe?

I was going to say mine does that too but mine just stutters if I give it like 2% throttle then at like 5% it gets going, I think that's normal though.

Something is definitely wrong, but I'm still not sure if it is the ESC or motor. I think we can eliminate the battery due to the video evidence. Have you tried anything that has been suggested? Or are you having a case of buyer's remorse and just looking to dump this truck? We'd love to help you, as would Traxxas, but I'm getting the feeling we're not going to get that chance, and I'm sorry for that.
Either way it's your choice, however you need to watch your language here.

Save yourself the frustration, call Traxxas. They are truly understanding and extremely helpful on the phone, just let them walk you through the set up and inform them of what is happening and they will definitely help you out:thumbup:
Hope you get it fixed.
When you fix it you will have so much fun
You can do almost anything
Backslash, monster truck , make it good for racing.
Also you have good part support from not only traxxas but other company's, just don't buy integy
If you bought it from a local hobby shop, they may be able to help you out!
Most shops are very helpful....
hi guys, i did 2 resets of the esc and it seems like the car is working, havent had an issue in past 2 days...ill prob call trax..on monday just to go over things...thanks all.
Good for you,traxxas did say they had a bad bunch of receivers go out, I bought a futaba transmitter and receiver,because my tqi wouldn't bind,with the new traxxas receiver.

Make sure wires from esc to motor are plugged in fully
